Well I suppose you can’t claim that sponsoring one journalism awards category affects the judges in the category before it.

Ah yes, Cliveden, site of one of the Conservative party's most glorious episodes

There's obviously a serious point here, but it's quite funny optics for the Conservative party to complain that it used to be so much quicker to build a stately home.

TOCs can already impose £1000 fine, doesn't seem to make any difference. Relies on "transport safety officers" or police, neither of whom I've ever seen on an Avanti WCML. I suggest a system of break-glass-to-use stout coshes in every carriange to be used by vigilantes to give miscreants dead legs.

Terrible scenes in most large French cities today. But this was not political protest in any true sense. Most of the real demonstrations against high oil prices and failing schools were peaceful. The violence came from a fringe ultra left. Looting by gangs from the poor suburbs. Good news for Le Pen

X has made a comeback with some communities, namely AI and tech, but it is not Twitter of old. On X, users have been spreading the name of a woman they think is Cornell's Jane Doe. One particular post doxed a woman's address and phone numbers and was viewed 1.4 million times.

But there's a 50% chance they are a woman ?

Trump: "You have Mohammed, Mohammed, Mohammed, Mohammed, Mohammed. Everybody is basically. If you're in doubt about somebody's name from the Middle East, just say 'Mohammed.' You have about a 65% chance."
