Of course, there’s more: Trump’s National Security Adviser Michael Waltz and his team used personal Gmail for government business. One of Waltz’s top aides even sent highly sensitive military data—positions, weapons systems, and war intel—over Gmail. But Hillary’s emails are the real scandal.

Russia has detained over 20,000 of its own citizens for their anti-war views over the past three years. It seems they are now getting help from the US with those efforts.

Alt: cartoon of Elon Musk swinging a chainsaw through the pillars supporting a stone sign marked "GOVERNMENT". The whole thing crumbles spectacularly, and human figures are seen amongst the flying shrapnel. Off to the side sits a donkey in a chair, primly holding a sign that says "TSK TSK".

NEW: Stephen and Katie Miller—he's "the prime minister," sources say; she's DOGE's comms guru—liaise between the White House and Elon Musk, and are centrally involved as he tears the government apart. The inside story by @jakelahut.writes.news

wired.comElon Musk's Takeover Is Being Aided by a Trumpworld Power CoupleStephen and Katie Miller—he's "the prime minister," sources say; she's DOGE's comms guru—liaise between the White House and Elon Musk, and are centrally involved as he tears the government apart.

Asked about his relationship with Trump, Zelensky admits it's not in the best shape, but continues: "...our countries have [a] strategic relationship and we are partners. And...it's not in our rights [as] presidents to lose partnership between our countries."

1/ More excellent reporting by Wired - fascinating and informative.

2/ "...over time, a systematic lack of resources, combined with repeated failed attempts to automate and digitize, created the 'sinkhole of bureaucracy' that is the federal retirement hub today." This underfunding is, IMO, the original sin that left our systems vulnerable to Musk's attacks.

A defining policy battle is about to come to a head in this country. The Republican budget will force everyone - especially Congress and the White House - to make plain whether they are prepared to harm the rest of us in order to fund tax cuts for the wealthiest.

It was an honor to sign the guest book in the home of Anne Frank. I was here as a younger man and thought about her life as a dark chapter of history. Today, I can’t help but think of her story as one of caution. Our world is fragile, and it’s incumbent on us not to break it.

In my city there is one cybertruck and one DIY parody of a cybertruck and the parody truck has become a local celebrity. Meanwhile, I always wish I had some rotten eggs to throw at the tesla whenever I see it.

This is absolutely insane. Musk’s DOGE crew just straight up *took* $80 million from an NYC bank account!

Okay what is going on here. Are the accounts at a private banking entity? Does the federal government have direct debit permission set up? So many questions as to how Treasury instructed this payment. (Via NY Post’s Craig McCarthy)

The US once played loud rock music at dictator Manuel Noriega till he surrendered. I bet continually yelling "No one likes you & there's not enough money in the world to buy you a sense of humor" at Elon would break him

Mindset reset: Right now, brave Ukrainians are defending their land & loved ones, at the cost of their sanity, limbs & lives. It’s an existential fight for their democracy & way of life. If the Russians lose, they go home. If the Ukrainians lose, they will be overrun & destroyed. #SlavaUkraini 🇺🇦

It feels like no one should have to say this, and yet we are in a situation where it needs to be said, very loudly and clearly, before it’s too late to do anything about it: The United States is not a startup. If you run it like one, it will break. 🔗 www.wired.com/story/the-us...

So proud of our Democratic members of Congress, right now! They’re being blocked from the Dept. of Education—and they’re not having it. Seeing Auntie Maxine ready to fight for our kids warms my soul. She hasn’t changed. Waters isn’t my congresswoman, but we love her in this house!

More than 8,000 web pages across more than a dozen U.S. government websites have been taken down since Friday afternoon, a NYT analysis found. The purges have removed info about vaccines, veterans' care, hate crimes, and scientific research, among many other topics. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/02/u...

3/ If you live in a GOP district, TURN IT UP TO 11. Call or write every day, if you can. With tiny GOP majorities, even if we get one more to stand up for their own power, it could help. Sarah Elfreth said it best: "We are here, but we cannot do it alone."

These stupid mother fuckers are going to close hundreds of nursing homes, homeless shelters, abuse shelters, and transitional housing for hundreds of thousands of Americans including veterans, seniors, women, and children. These fucking monsters. Flynn is such a piece of shit.

I think it might be intimidating for certain members to think about getting on camera and just putting something unscripted out there. Not long ago this would have seemed unprofessional. Now? That codes as honest. If you're elected, WE NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU. This is dire. Please, make some noise!

Senator Andy Kim just went to the USAID building, talked to the security guard there to confirm employees are being barred entry, and then did a press gaggle right there in front to call it out. This is doing something. This is making an effort on messaging. Other Democratic lawmakers: take notes.
