Private equity buys UK fertility clinics. PE already controls social care, hospitals, GP surgeries, dentistry, child fostering. Usual business model. High debt, quality of care declines, prices increase, high profits. When things go wrong, NHS has to step in, PE doesn't pay.

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday Ondřej Surý saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

I have never seen coverage of a live trial, one involving allegations of multiple sex attacks on multiple women, framed in a more distasteful way. It's not 'Fame under fire' it's a rape trial. And it involves actual women. And this from the *checks notes* BBC

'What day is it?' asked Pooh. 'It’s our BIRTHDAY.' squeaked Piglet. 'My favourite day.' said Pooh. Happy 100th BIRTHDAY to Pooh and the gang! 🎂🎉 Pooh and his friends first appeared on the 14th October 1926 in #WinnieThePooh by A.A. Milne. #WinnieThePooh100 #onthisday

Oh look... the "voice of common sense" seems to come from a very, very specific underbelly

We’ve been talking about this for years. None of these far-right movements are organic.

Forwarded post deleted - it was about the BBC finding it very important to report on the smallest eye-blink of Farage's Reform whilst mostly ignoring much bigger parties such as the LibDems, the Greens, the SNP, etc etc

Looks like a good reflection of the national mood. Greens completely losing their momentum, Reform on a slow but steady decline, LibDems all but forgotten, Tories can't even cash in on all the publicity around their party conference and Labour not effing up.

Boom! 💥 Man, Social Democrats defeating the far right. That is going to be such a big media story, right? Right?

🚨 NEW: Kemi Badenoch's Conservatives have blocked Byline Times from attending their party conference, just weeks after she condemned Reform UK for banning critical journalists. Byline Times chief reporter Josiah Mortimer says his application was rejected without a specific reason.

It's international Black Dog Day! Didn't know that either until my friend @dagonet.eurosky.social mentioned it. Nothing to do with depression this time; it's about black dogs getting adopted less often and therefore euthanised sooner. (the pictured one is very much alive and kicking)

A new megapoll shows that EU membership is the most popular UK-EU relations policy in all but four parliamentary seats in Great Britain. Which areas are the most supportive? Which areas aren't? And what are the benefits of membership? ⬇️
