There have been 117 best-of-seven World Series since 1903. In those 117, 25 have seen a team go up 3-0. Those teams are 21-4 in Game Four. None of those series went to six games.

wow, really? dang. Something to watch for!

If you’re starting to wonder No team has swept both the LCS and World Series since the LCS became best-of-7 in 1985 Yet

Went to go check this, it's wild that it hasn't happened before, but also that there have already been 3 instances where an LCS sweeper went on to get swept in the WS (1990, 2007, 2012)

I was mostly listening on radio on the commute home, and I was legitimately wondering if the Brewers broadcast was piping in noise or editing the levels or something like that, because it sounded like a home crowd for them

Cannot believe the way the Milwaukee fans turned out at the Trop.

Looking ahead to Friday, and acknowledging the sample size... Since 2001, LCS and World Series teams with at least five days’ rest and a rest advantage are 5-10 in their first game back.

This is only the 6th time in the 32 postseasons of the Wild Card Era (since 1995) that both 1 seeds reached the World Series World Series Between #1 Seeds Since 1995 1995 Braves/Indians 1999 Yankees/Braves 2013 Red Sox/Cardinals 2020 Dodgers/Rays 2024 Dodgers/Yankees 2026 Brewers/Rays

Brewers/Rays is the 8th World Series between teams that have never won one before 1903 Americans (Red Sox)/Pirates 1905 Giants/Athletics 1906 White Sox/Cubs 1907 Cubs/Tigers 1909 Pirates/Tigers 1920 Indians/Robins (Dodgers) 1980 Phillies/Royals 2026 Brewers/Rays (good idea @mikemedvin.bsky.social)

And that's the World Series match-up set! Brewers-Rays gives us our fourth-ever All-Expansion Team WS, after 2015, 2019, and 2023 Interesting that each one of those is an entirely different pair of teams, too

We are now officially guaranteed a new World Series match-up! Also, guarantees the end of a pretty substantial drought

Theo Gerome@hotcornerharbor.com

Since we had a spate of eliminations today, an update on the World Series Rematch chances: it's gotten pretty straightforward. Any Dodgers World Series pairing would be a re-match, and any Brewers one would be new

Probably a bad thing that the right can come up with a totally nonsense conspiracy theory about James Talarico and journalists have to spend valuable time 3 weeks before the election debunking it instead of covering Paxton actually going to Dubai with his mistress on a trip paid for by a criminal

Well, you can just mentally cross off the bottom row here now, feeling too lazy to go edit it

cool that MLB owners are gonna do a lockout and cancel part of the season next year purportedly for "if we don't crush player salaries, small markets can't compete!!" when 3 of the final 4 teams this year are Tampa, Cleveland and Milwaukee.

Theo Gerome reposted

so the final four are * a team that has never won the World Series in its 28 seasons * a team that has never won the World Series in its 57 seasons * a team that hasn’t won the World Series in 77 seasons * Dodgers

It is kind of funny that for 29 teams, referring to something as “the fan interference game” would probably just get blank stares (Cubs is debatable, I guess), but for the Yankees, it’s just “which one?”

For some reason, I decided to do my home-bound chores first, meaning I accidentally caught most of the Braves-Dodgers and missed most of the Rays game 😞

The upside of the Dodgers-Braves NLDS is that it at least guarantees we won't have a Dodgers-Braves NLCS. I'm glad this is the series confined to the Buck-Smoltz shadow realm, at least

It’s Bandcamp Friday, which is a good way to show support to your favorite artists! And if you need any recommendations, a lot of what I put on my playlists is stuff I found on Bandcamp! Here’s my most recent one, from a few weeks ago: www.hchoutofleftfield.com/2026/09/musi...

Flipped over to Astros radio broadcast as soon as the Phillies-Braves ended. Was kind of dreading leaving such an exciting game for The Horrors, and it seems like that was justified

Since he’s in the news, bringing this up again

I only did a quick check rather than a full verification, but I believe AJ Blubaugh recently claimed the MLB record for “most games wearing #69”

The @Astros had just a 6.9% chance to make the postseason on May 20th 😮 Their #Postseason journey begins Tuesday!

Forget the lottery. This is how we should determine the top ten draft slots.

gwen howerton@kissphoria.bsky.social

the two worst teams in MLB should play a game the day after the season ends just for the people who want more baseball. the people yearn for 2 pm Rockies - Angels

Also, getting a new World Series match-up will be tricky. The Yankees, Dodgers, and Red Sox are first, tied-for-second, and third in most unique World Series opponents. And the Phillies, Cubs, Braves, Astros have each faced a lot of their potential opponents, despite much fewer pennants

It's kind of funny, because this actually wound up being a pretty straightforward year for my column. We have the three longest active droughts in the Brewers, Padres, & Guardians, but the median drought among this year's set is actually the Phillies & Yankees. Getting it that low is kinda tough!

SCHN broadcast basically confirming this lol

The idea of having a clinching celebration in Sacramento is just very funny. I can't imagine that's a particularly nice away clubhouse

can't believe we're getting a World Series rematch this October

Chandler Rome@chandlerrome.bsky.social

The Astros have won the American League West for the eighth time in 10 seasons. They'll host the Chicago White Sox in a Wild Card series starting Tuesday at Daikin Park.

Y'know, I hadn't really kept up with Dean Kremer after the Orioles traded him. Glad to see he's turned it around in Minnesota (especially today!), but also a little frustrating to see, feels like that happens to ex-O's pitchers a lot...
