Once again I’m at a comics show (A2CAF SIP in Ann Arbor) and I’m just now saying anything about it. Also I made a foldy mini for the first time in… decades????

In true indie comics fashion, I finished drawing it this morning at the motel, sped to a fedex, got to the show a smiiiidge late and have been folding them at my table ✌️

this was HR 2616 which also bans books by or about trans and nonbinary people from schools START CALLING YOUR SENATORS NOW CIS FRIENDS TRANS KIDS NEED YOU

ACLU@aclu.org

BREAKING: The House of Representatives just voted to require teachers to forcibly out transgender youth against their will. Censoring "gender ideology" does nothing to advance the basic promise that every child deserves the same opportunity to thrive, and that includes transgender students.

Lmao I arrive at the gardening volunteer event and IMMEDIATELY learn they found a nest of bb buns, one is injured, I drive it 40 min to the nearest wildlife rehab

The other four siblings were fine and will be put back where they were so mom can find em! I really thought I’d missed my yearly bunny nest encounter, it just came later than usual 😅

Do note that I’m not too confident about shipping anywhere outside the US at the moment, but shopify doesn’t let you restrict where you ship to. So the option is there, it’s just like, real dang expensive :|

This is a really great essay about children’s lit, and touches on (and goes further with) some of the things you may have heard me yell about at the CAKE panel I was on

Maggie Tokuda-Hall@maggietokudahall.bsky.social

I wrote this essay last fall for print only & I'm republishing it with their permission bc we're talking about didactism in kidlit right now and I have HAD thoughts about the connection between instructive lit and book banning. I'd be honored if you read it. www.prettyokmaggie.com/blog/2026/5/...

It’s been months and she still won’t let me near the knife 😔 This marks four years worth of these comics! I’ve decided that it’s a good end point. I’ve gotten what I wanted out of these little comics, and I hope you’ve enjoyed them!

I am so angry. Two Durham, NC kids - 11-year-old Genesis and 6-year-old Denis of Burton Elementary Magnet School - were taken by ICE at their regular asylum case appointment, and immediately deported without due process. Follow SiembraNC on IG or FB or @siembranc.bsky.social for next action steps.

I would like to talk more about how ICE shot someone else yesterday and he is in critical condition! The coverage is really horrifying because DHS is giving a similar story to the one they gave about Renee Good and so much news coverage is just buying it. Please talk about Carlos Mendoza Hernandez.

The Supreme Court did not strike down conversion therapy bans today. Not nationwide. Not in Colorado. Not anywhere. Here's what actually happened in Chiles v. Salazar—and why the coverage you're seeing serves the conservative legal movement more than it serves you.

I didn't believe this so I looked it up and holy shit, it's true. There is a literal pathway to life imprisonment if a trans person uses the bathroom 4 times in Idaho, if this bill fully passes.

Idaho also has a 3 strikes law so any trans people who get caught in the wrong bathroom with at least 2 previous felonies are facing life in prison if this passes.
