This is a great reminder that, when the FBI raided Trump’s home, it found evidence of an actual crime: hundreds of highly classified documents that Trump stole when he left office.

Before you leave a company make sure you know of any retirement benefits. Check back every few years to ensure they have all of your data correct. Update them when you move.

What’s a thing from your area of expertise (or special interest) that you think it would behoove everyone else to know?

People bemoan a lack of civics education in the US, but a bigger problem for our democracy is the near total lack of media literacy education. Media literacy should be required beginning in first grade (what are ads and why) through twelfth (propaganda, public service, journalist standards).

I’ve not heard anyone tie Trump’s tariff mania to corruption. Am I missing what’s being said, is there some other reason it’s not being said, or am I completely wrong to think the tariffs are intended to line republican pockets? If Trumpism wins I fear the return of a Conkling type senate.

Social Security Trustees Report just dropped, trust fund now runs out in 2032—next presidential term. Huge fight coming over a basic choice: lift the cap so the wealthy pay their fair share, or cut benefits for everybody. Yesterday Mike Johnson made clear he plans benefit cuts.

Futures play a role in the real economy, relating to planning, pricing, and hedging against price changes. Prediction markets are pure and simple gambling.

Without birthright citizenship there is no freedom. No civil rights. No democracy. Because then your citizenship in the country where you were born becomes a political question. People with power decide if you belong. Instead of the other way around, the way it should be.

The complete Bayeux Tapestry has finally been released and proves that Bishop Odo had absolutely nothing to do with the illegal Norman invasion of England.

If it weren’t for Blue Sky I would not have heard of @engelsbergideas.bsky.social, and would be missing out on many thought provoking articles. This one, in particular, has much to chew on.

What do you all think? Americans everywhere wearing black and white on June 14th to honor #Marchofthepenguins and not a dictator’s Birthday?!

Spoken as a former Army Captain, I would much rather march on behalf on the Antarctic animals of @heardislandgov.bsky.social on June 14th instead of our Gov. Let’s get a #Marchofthepenguins on the 14th, with everyone wearing black and white clothes!

An excellent essay by Duncan Weldon. He explains why, in 1914-1918, the civilian-led, democratic states of Britain and France adapted more effectively to the conditions of total war than autocratic regimes in Russia and Germany, where the military came to predominate.

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale
