Hey comparativists am I interpreting this correctly

This Israeli elections explainer is a real public service. Here's what I think is the crux of it to entice you to read the whole thing...

One of the roughly 3 things I know about Iowa (from my dear friend from Iowa) is the ragbrai bicycle tour that thousands of people do each year

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Joe Mitchell: "Thank God you're building the ballroom. Thank God you're getting rid of those awful bike lanes. We don't ride bicycles in Iowa."

Most Dem counties in NC based on imputed PID score (cumulative CES -> voter file), w/ early vote gains (%): 1. Durham (+41) 2. Hertford (+83)! 3. Orange (+37) 4. Northampton (+62) 5. Bertie (+30) Most Republican: 1. Mitchell (+8) 2. Avery (-2) 3. Yadkin (+6) 4. Cherokee (+16) 5. Wilkes (+4)

I agree that since ~2020 incumbents now face the wrath of an incredibly powerful Bad Vibes Machine, and reprogramming or disarming it is an enormous political challenge

As of the most recent voter file release in NC, active registered Democrats once again very marginally outnumber active registered Republicans in the state (Of course the growing plurality is independents though) #ncpol

It is very humbling to write a book on political overconfidence (i.e., I now have some new form of imposter syndrome nobody has yet thought of). But I'm proud of the finished product and I hope it makes a valuable contribution! OVERCONFIDENT AMERICA (2027, Cambridge) is done & on its way to you ✨

Gotta update my 2026 election forecast model, which is 4% partisan composition of the electorate, 5% polling aggregates, and 91% egg What, it did fine in 2024?

NPR@npr.org

Agriculture experts say high egg prices were the result of severe avian flu outbreaks, but the Trump administration's tariffs and the war with Iran have also put pressure on farmers. trib.al/HZr5QjQ

It's going to be fun when an LLM ingests the fake citations in this thread and gives them back to people trying to write AI generated "literature" "reviews"

I've been in meetings virtually all day with thesis/independent study researchers, RAs, and coauthors. No matter the level, no matter the subject, the following consensus emerged: RESEARCH IS HARD!!

All the gambling apps in the world could never replicate the electric, down-to-the-wire feeling of waiting for the check at a nice restaurant with a 1 year old & a 5 year old at your table

Didn't know I needed a chili roaster until now

116th meeting of New Mexico and New Mexico State is this weekend. Last year, this rivalry got a new trophy, and it’s become one of our favorites: the chili roaster.

My students are working on survey questions for our upcoming Baltimore County exit poll. One of them wrote an age question in our shared doc with the following categories: 18-25, 26-30, 31-35, 36-40, 41-45, 45+

Ah, surely using the overconfidence machine for political information is not at all relevant to my new book (Cambridge, 2027), OVERCONFIDENT AMERICA

My father-in-law tested coal power plant emissions for decades, climbing stacks in harsh weather and subjecting himself to extreme noise levels and severe air quality to inform EPA of emissions violators. From WV to Chicago to the Gulf. I can't imagine his feelings right now.

Rare overnight superfecta of 5-year-old nightmare, baby lost paci, cat yelling astonishingly loud for no reason, and smoke detector low battery chirp Happy weekend

This is a cold-sweat nightmare for any election administrator, to say nothing of the campaigns!! I'm imagining great herds of lawyers running towards Missouri from all directions.
