More attention spent on making her explain donor drop off than in actually wondering who pulled the stunt. This is not about re litigating the primary. It's about hardening the systems for 2028. The sheer lack of curiosity is depressing.

The Texas GOP is sending panicked texts about "weirdo socialist furries" descending on polling places near you. Talarico has them freaked. But that also sounds like a fun party.

This was pretty much the most fun I have had all year. Join in and join us.

Very pleased to share this final installment of our By The People series, a live show on reclaiming constitutional meaning for the people themselves. Much needed insight and inspiration from @staceyabrams.com and @ilyseh.bsky.social and @daphnarenan.bsky.social.

But enough with the anthropomorphic Constitution. Listen to this episode with @dahlialithwick.bsky.social, @daphnarenan.bsky.social, @ilyseh.bsky.social , and @staceyabrams.com because their perspectives are inspiring and there’s a knitter you’ll want to know about! slate.com/podcasts/ami...

Loved getting to engage with @daphnarenan.bsky.social's big brain on this episode of Amicus.

Daphna Renan@daphnarenan.bsky.social

Loved participating in this conversation with three inspiring women -- @dahlialithwick.bsky.social, @staceyabrams.com, and @ilyseh.bsky.social -- and many powerful stories from listeners about knitting the people back into the Constitution, one stitch at a time.

I've always been a fan of popular constitutionalism as a concept. @slate.com's new series hosted by @dahlialithwick.bsky.social makes me believe a real movement around it can ignite a vibrant next chapter in democratic freedom, rights and opportunity. Tune in to hear the conversation!

When did Supreme Court justices become the only people allowed to interpret the Constitution? It’s time to reclaim it. Join us for a live taping of Amicus, hosted by @dahlialithwick.bsky.social, with guests @staceyabrams.com, @ilyseh.bsky.social, and @daphnarenan.bsky.social. bit.ly/4jfGHSH

Targeting an elected who is controversial and divides the Dem party is a ploy to mute the response and set a precedent that you're only safe is you're universally liked. Swift condemnation from both parties has to happen stat. Otherwise, they invite tolerance for tyranny that might not be stopped.

It's (almost) the 10 year anniversary of the Access Hollywood tape. I wrote about what we should have known and are still learning for @thebulwark.com. TL; DR: It's hard to have a functioning democracy when the people have withdrawn their own consent. www.thebulwark.com/p/access-hol...

Not at all the point of this post, but I do feel like it's criminal that I was today years old before knowing that there's a BlueSky account with the handle Why Sharks Matter.

Greetings, non-Jews in academia! As we start another semester, here's your regularly scheduled reminder that the Jewish High Holy Days are coming up. If you wouldn't schedule an important meeting or exam on Christmas or Easter, don't schedule one on Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur.

My fondest memory of Lindsey Graham was when he mistakenly wandering into the NARAL taco breakfast before the 2017 Women's March. The look on his face was priceless. We didn't agree on much at all, but he was a good sport and we both liked those tacos.

Glyphosates poison people and drive sperm rates down. So why is Trump backing more production of them while SCOTUS shields them from damages to hundreds of thousands who got cancer? I wrote about political fallout of last week's decision for @thebulwark.com

Why has this Supreme Court ruling caused young men to distance themselves from Trump? @ilyseh.bsky.social's latest piece looks at the sperm race and how men's fertility is impacted by this momentous win for the Bayer Corporation. lnk.thebulwark.com/4xSa6XT

SCOTUS handed Monsanto a victory today and screwed a bunch of Trump supporters in the process: farmers, MAHA mom's, and young men. Trump didn't have to side with the big corporation, he chose to. These folks won't forget come November. via @thebulwark.com www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-cour...

An apology and correction was issued. I posted in my replies to the original. Everyone makes mistakes. It's unusual to own them that quickly. Courier is a class act.

Few organizations in the world could take the kind of fire Media Matters has since 2023 and not only survive, but win legal victories that benefit all. For another org to use misinformation to raise funds for themselves is questionable at best and certainly not how we win against fascists.

1/ I have to correct some misinformation here. The stakes are too high. We aren’t going bankrupt. It's a totally unfounded and incendiary suggestion, especially for a news outlet to make. Also, they’re fundraising for themselves off of our bruises? Oof. Mercenary in the guise of being supportive.

Watching originalists over at the X bird site lose their minds because Jill Lepore's book on popular constitutionalism won a Pulitzer is a surprise delight.

Outside money by Dem leadership pouring into Iowa to defeat hometown hero @zachwahls.bsky.social is political malfeasance in a primary where-even if you prefer the other guy (I don't)-Zach is widely known to be a great leader. We have a whole Chamber to win. Get it together. This is why we lose.

I’m a Texan and much of my family is still there. Both Jasmine Crockett and James Talarico represent the best of our state, and I am so proud of the future pathways they offer Texans and our nation. No matter what happens today, Texas Democrats have shown the country what leadership looks like.

Trump claims Iran has been “destroyed” and “obliterated” in one day but also that the bombing is “pinpoint.” And as if regime change were not an ambitious enough objective now says the goal is peace “throughout… the world.” This kind of wild talk does not inspire confidence, to put it mildly.

On the 5th anniversary of a day that should live in infamy, Tom Joscelyn and I discuss our post-January 6 reality. We have a pro-Jan. 6 administration in the White House that doesn't bow to election results or constitutional limits. What does that suggest for 2028? open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...
