I'm not the kind of therapist that thinks everything is automatically the mother's fault, but in my personal, individual situation, it is definitely all my mother's fault.

Marko did a bunch of dry wall in the downstairs yesterday and I was not prepared for how terrible the house would smell today. Apparently dry wall smells bad? I did not know!

I'm trying to embroider Mary the Mother smoking a cigarette on a denim bomber jacket and lemme tell you. I did a great job on her halo but unfortunately her eyes are looking in different directions. 😭 Gonna have to rip her facial features out and try to do it over again.

Make nose smaller and nostrils closer together. Make lips smaller. Make eyes point in the same direction!! How?? No clue. They are a small knot of thread. How can it be pointing in a direction? Ahhhhh but it is!

I cooked bratwurst and mashed potatoes and sauerkraut with mustard. I cooked sauteed corn with kielbasa and onions. I cooked scrambled eggs with sausage and spinach.

If I started a formative-literature-to-me tattoo sleeve it would include Nancy Drew Toni Morrison's Beloved Dr Suesses' Go Dog Go Sweet Valley High Naomi Novak's Scholomance

This is an extremely important read. If you spend 5 minutes in WA state political circles you can see how this network protects and promotes the deeply ineffective and even abusive democrats we have in power here. We must change.

Just as a private equity firm buys out a corporation and strips it for parts, a consultant class is raiding the Democratic Party and getting “generationally wealthy” along the way New from me and @adambonica.bsky.social newrepublic.com/article/2163...

My mom did this thing with our mess where she compulsively picked it all up every single day, which I hated. But my friend A does this thing with her kids mess where she never picks a single piece of it up, nor makes them do it, and I also hate that solution.

I tried to water the garden since the drought is so bad but the water just ran right off the parched earth. It's so sunny and warm every day. Poor earth.

Okay. It's definitely getting colder. I saw three different PNW gardeners take down their tomato plants this last weekend. Am I ready to call it and being mine in to ripen???

I'm so sad about ICE. I'm so sad about the concentration camps and the deportments and the arrests and the poor poor children and the murders. The whole thing. I hate it so much. We are all terrorized by those villains.

Last year I started my cold weather cooking thread this same week. So now it's an annual rhythm I guess. First soup of the season: Creamy Potato and Corn soup with crispy sausage and black pepper onions.

Leanna@introvertedlala.bsky.social

Okay kicking off thread of Autumn Cooking Season with a big weekend dinner: Lemon chili poached salmon over mushroom risotto with garlic fried green beans and a green salad. Finished with a whole homemade cheesecake.

Miso brown butter baked cabbage with crispy white beans. Giant pot of sweet pepper and sausage spaghetti sauce. Some for freezing for lunches. Yum

The question for the first of October is exactly who am I hand making Xmas gifts for? Now is the time to start. It is not at all wise to first think about homemade Xmas gifts in November!

Yes I am hand sewing something for my cousins. Yes for my friend who always hand makes me a gift. I offered to make my man something but then he said he would need to think of a design concept and so that is a timeline pushed way way out. Maybe that will end up his father's day gift or something.

Performing historical poetry about masturbation at dinner to prove to the crowd that gen z isn't the most into gooning of every generation ever. I won the argument obviously.

They're not wrong. In a related example, the Downtown Seattle Assoc actually *wants* skateboarders sessioning Westlake Plaza because they add "eyes on the street"

A group of local Seattle artists and cultural workers have drafted a letter to Mayor Wilson requesting that the city divert funds away from SPD and redirect it towards the arts. The main argument? Arts activations and cultural programming should be considered a form of public safety infrastructure.

So many moms in their Instagram stories, vowing that they personally will raise their sons not to rape. I am not interested in individualized solutions. Whyyyyy do Americans love to solve problems this way????

Exactly the same as giving advice on what drink to bring to a job interview to the poor unemployed candidates surviving the worst job market since the republicans crashed the economy last time. No. We are not victim blaming. Stop it.

I will not engage in the teeheehee blaming queer people for having feelings and businesses and COVID consciousness. All of this is fucked up and I'm tired of smart people falling for it.

If you need more evidence that the mainstream press is insanely biased against Wilson, to the point of inaccuracy, here's a headline blaming Wilson for Barnes' and SPD staffers' decision to delay both the press conference and the release of information after 6:30 www.fox13seattle.com/news/mayor-b...

I'm happy to see not just funding in the mayor's budget for more Automated Traffic Safety Cameras themselves, but a whole heck of a lot of staff to support review and prosecution of infractions. And a bunch of that money will go to safer streets infrastructure, particularly around schools.

Don't really love the entire internet suggesting that all parents who just send their kid to the local crappy public school will live to deeply regret that decision. That lady has a right to her journey and I'm super supportive but I hope my story is different than her story.

One thing I did really differently than the lady who wrote the article is that I started telling my kid as early as first or second grade that schools have totally different levels of resources, he was going to an under-resourced school and we could change that at any time if he or i wanted.

I think sending ones kid to a local crappy public school is a strong ass decision. I like that I made it. Anyone, of any race and class can do this. It's an act of class solidarity and investment in the village imo (and also so say many fancy theorists)

I also think sure, I probably can't do this AND want my kid to go to an ivy. Those are probably conflicting goals. Well. In fifteen years or whatever, if I'm alive, I can tell you if it worked out or not for the kiddo.
