i know calling out right wing hypocrisy is like worse than pointless, but the “women can’t take accountability” talking point genuinely boggles the mind. in basically every context, women are the first to admit fault and introspect on their behavior, even when they’re in the right!

i think in general people struggle with taking accountability because in general people do not work to develop the emotional intelligence needed to do so. there are plenty of immature people who refuse to admit when they’re wrong! but if the issue was split down gender lines, it would not favor men.

starbomb was really good. i’m not a musician or anything so maybe it’s a crazy thought, but i hope someday i can put on some sort of show that lures out all the boston nerds and queers. my people 🥹 i love video games

i actually cannot possibly wrap my head around the idea of staring down the barrel of the climate crisis and going “you know what we need to do? pour untold billions of dollars into a technology that consumes a ridiculous amount of water and pollutes and warms the environment even faster”

yes AI is also bad for countless other reasons, but like, when i think of the kind of technological breakthroughs this moment demands, the ability to make everything sloppier, faster, cheaper, and more environmentally costly is NOT on the list

like why is ANYONE building a data center right now?? why is everything gambling and mass produced and quick and cheap and getting worse while our previous level of output was already poised to drive us to extinction??

the botw video script has been sent to my proofreaders! hopefully editing based on the feedback won’t take too long, i feel like i’ve spent so long on this draft that i can’t stand looking at it anymore. i keep wanting to throw it all away and start over, but i’ll resist the urge for now lol.

ive spent a year on one particular thing and i am constantly doing battle with myself in this way. it is interesting as an emotional experience to have to confront a self you might have even forgotten lol

it must be said that it’s very difficult to edit a script when the drafting process took nearly two years. i’m editing the beginning now, and some of it is fine the way it is, but other parts makes me go “wait, do i even still believe that?” and then i’m sent down a rabbit hole 😵‍💫

the botw video, on the other hand, is more exploratory, it’s teasing apart what the game is saying, in terms of gameplay, presentation, story, etc., what people say about the game, what it means to me, and what it means more broadly, if it even means anything at all.

this necessarily means that i’m putting so much more of myself into this video. this is my analysis, these are my conclusions, and people WILL disagree with them. that is inevitable. i guess all i can really hope is that i’m able to make a final product i can be proud of.

i think i’m ultimately going to need to be content in knowing i did my best to capture my feelings and analysis of the game at this point in my life, and that those feelings will likely change in ways both large and small in the future.

that’s what makes this video so much harder to write than the totk video, i think. for the totk video, the thesis was “this game sucks” and the evidence was the game itself. you can argue about how big of an issue “secret stone demon king” is, but you can’t argue that that’s how the game shipped.

like there is no end goal in terms of passing, people will never automatically see me the way i see myself. i’m lucky enough to be surrounded by people who are either willing to understand me or who are themselves nonbinary and already get it, but like, man it’s rough

all i can say to people who don’t get it is “i’m not a man or a woman, i’m just me” or some variation, but that’s never going to convince someone who’s not already supportive of nonbinary identities. there’s nothing i can really do except continue to live my life and hope people aren’t too cruel

it is always a strange feeling when i get a comment like “omg sis please share your voice training regimen!! you sound so feminine!” like that is very kind of you and i know you mean well but also ouch

the way the attack at berlin pride has been weaponized by zionists and seized upon as an excuse to do their fucking “chickens for kfc” song and dance makes me so unbelievably sick. just ghoulish behavior.

I know it’s all culture war nonsense but right wingers criticizing the odyssey for having black people or whatever is so odd. It is an AMERICAN adaptation. The actors cannot speak Greek. Nobody has any relationship to any Ancient Greeks or whatever. It is not a Greek movie

The idea that the Wii U gamepad is a bad controller is asinine to me. Look at how big and chunky it is. I can barely wrap my hands around it! If it were a person, she'd be a beautiful fat woman who'd smother me under her full weight. We'd get married at dawn and have six beautiful children together
