BBC News this evening - reports quarter of a million evacuated in France!!! - no mention of underlying causes of fires - extreme heat - deaths - destruction. Ended with a piece advising planting more hardy bulbs!!!! - total madness!! - responsible reporting? - smacks of outright disinformation.

OMG, I really love Ann Telnaes. She is a great political cartoonist and walked away from Bezos Post and she is now independent. I think she hit another one out of the park.. What do ya all think? I really love this one.

Gaza: Doctors Under Attack, won a BAFTA award last night. The BBC refused to show it but Channel 4 aired it anyway. There's still some real journalists out there, actually challenging power and showing the terrible war crimes they try to hide.

My friend @rokhanna.bsky.social is absolutely right. When the President of the United States threatens genocide against millions of innocent people, Democratic leadership should stand in clear moral opposition — not hide behind procedure.

Hard to know which is more shocking - the dire warnings of the potential collapse of our food system in the UK or the fact that governments have tried to cover it up. Their complacency is off the scale. We urgently need to switch to growing more food domestically & to restore nature now

The most important Oscar speech tonight wasn’t about film. The director of “Mr. Nobody Against Putin” said this from the stage: “You lose your country through countless small acts of complicity. When we act complicit when a government murders people on the streets. When oligarchs take over the media

Removing through traffic from your city centre ensures mums and sons can safely cycle through the city side by side. Design streets for people, and people will use them.

It’s not just about what you remove (cars, noise, dirty air). It’s about what you add (people walking, a lot of bike parking, trees, outdoor dining, and room for kids to play safely). Amsterdam: 1986 and today. Streets for people. HT @hackneycyclist.bsky.social for the great before-and-after
