China’s first AI-generated theatrical feature has flopped, earning just $181,000 in its first weekend. By contrast, the scrappy ‘Niu Lai’ turned its crude animation into a viral attraction, grossing nearly $10 million a couple of months ago. www.cartoonbrew.com/box-office-r...

If I'd loudly, and at length, bemoaned the fact that Muhammad being a popular name in Ireland was a sign of creeping Sharia law, I think it would come up. With Linehan it doesn't. Because frothing transphobia is not merely excused. It's worse. If you hate trans people enough, all else is forgiven

I've said it before, but it still blows my mind that not only has there been a jaw-dropping (faithful, but not to a fault) big-screen DUNE adaptation, but it was a huge success and now has two sequels.
Lisan al Gaib! Denis Villeneuve's Dune was released 5 years ago today. And Paul's story will conclude in Dune: Part Three, planned for December 18 in the US (but December 15 for me 🤗).

One flight last week leaving from al-Qassim airport north of Riyadh to Geneva on a Bombardier Global 6000 — a 14-seater long-range aircraft — sold for €94,000, compared with a price of about €60,000 before the closure of Riyadh’s main airport. ft.trib.al/GxeYgqK

Personally, I would prefer something hopeful, set post-PICARD (but unrelated to the DISCOVERY/ACADEMY stuff). Failing that, I would be faintly interested in STARGAZER, a mini-series detailing the misadventures of a Picard back when he was a young first-officer with THE TURTLENECK UNIFORMS!
Star Trek will wrap up its third era next year (the Roddenberry era, the Berman era, the Kurtzman era - Yes, that's a gross oversimplification). What would you like the next era of Trek to be like?
