Hey, it’s DJ! I know it’s been a minute but I had to come out of hiatus for this one: BNC Co-Founder, Brilliant Writer, and Community Builder @yanawroteit.bsky.social got her first book deal, y’all! 🎉

When I first read about the maroons of the Dismal Swamp a couple years ago, the idea for TROUBLE THE WATERS practically unfurled before me & I'm so so so excited and honored to be able to share Blessing's story with readers.

There's a reason why Trump praised Hitler and runs concentration camps, why the KKK used his name on their recruitment flyers, why David Duke said he and Trump share the same message, why the KKK endorsed Trump, why Trump uses a KKK slogan, and why Trump uses ICE to commit KKK-worthy terrorism.

Declaring yourself a “safe” person or “ally” has the opposite affect for me. If you’re truly “safe” or an “ally” you’ll prove that by doing the work; not stating it. Seeing so many folks declaring they are “safe” for marginalized folks to be around makes me weary & wary.
