I went to Edmonton from Vancouver to see Kim, stayed a week, left on a white-knuckle flight on Sunday, Mother's Day. Took Monday off. Went to work at the bank Tuesday, sister called to say he died. 15 years later, Mom figured it was just gas, it was the 1st of 3 heart attacks, 3rd one killed her.

This is the hardest week of the year for me. The only bright spot was having my 7yo daughter meet me at the airport (my ex had her for the week) and she yelled "MOMMY!" and raced down the hallway to me, leaping into my arms. I did brace for the impact and all was much better.
