Still have ~30 films on my watchlist (despite feeling like I watched more down the stretch than usual), but had to pull the trigger eventually. Lots of great international and indie films this year (with some nice studio fare too). My Top Ten Films of 2025 at @thefilmstage.com. #topten #filmsky

Steve Pink’s #Terrestrial, now in theaters, is a pitch-black sci-fi comedy. Read @jaredmobarak.com's review:

Only 6 pts in 11 games and a -6 ... should we start worrying Sidney Crosby isn't going to keep his crazy point-a-game record alive this season? #LetsGoPens

Black Bear is going HARD for that Best Visual Effects Oscar. Most publicists send an email saying links are available and then when you reply they tell you “your request was noted and we will try to fulfill it.” WICKER publicists are like: we’re going to bring a Blu-Ray to your house right now!

Wild. The AMC+ Prime channel is no longer going to include Shudder and Sundance Now. However, Prime was kind enough to let me know my subscription will renew without an issue at THE CURRENT PRICE next month. I'm sorry. You're removing half your content, but the price is staying the same? Nope.

I’m all for not spoiling casting, but I definitely laughed when the CARRIE embargo instructions said we couldn’t mention Kate Siegel (of course she’s in it) or Mark Hamill (been in Mike’s last two productions) while half the cast from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA were fair game.

Designed by Mike Koelsch for Grandson.

Whoa. RIP Jeremiah Kipp. He started sending me his very stylized and atmospheric shorts back in 2013 and I've enjoyed watching his steady rise with SLAPFACE getting picked up by Shudder and his most recent adaptation of THE MORTUARY ASSISTANT. Very sad news. jaredmobarak.com/tag/jeremiah...

We're speedrunning toward a future where news orgs are forced to use AI to create photos that are no longer available from archives, and if I have to explain to you why that's bad then you're already too broken to be part of society.

What's your favorite poster for an October new release? @jaredmobarak.com examines the poster art of the month: thefilmstage.com/nyff-review-...

Poltergeist III The whole reflection in mirrors thing was creepy enough. But realizing it also worked via reflections in unavoidable things like puddles of water? Nightmares. Yes, I probably watched it too young.

Yes, it's horrible. The monopoly. The owner. The destruction of studio legacy. But ... Does this mean Paramount films will be part of Movies Anywhere? If so, yay! Or ... Does this mean Warner Bros. will stop being part of Movies Anywhere? If so, boo! These are the important questions.

CARRIE embargo is up. New series is very good. Still mostly the book, but Flanagan expands world to potentially sprawl into other King properties with subsequent seasons (although discussing the specifics of this is embargoed from reviews). Mine is out tomorrow. So say we all.
