Did I miss a model release announcement? I was just checking out Cohere's model vault beta, and see this North large one. Unless that is their corporate one that I haven't tried.

I was feeling self conscious about my ize spelling when writing a big report for an Australian customer, since they all use ise. And Carney has a vendetta against it. But I guess ize is used with greek origin words and I'm happy to keep it.

It seems a lot of people have no idea what's going on in regard to open weights The oligarchs stand against open and free technology. They want your rent. There's a significant movement amongst whom "alignment" and "trad values" are synonymous. They've played the anti-AI crowd for absolute fools.

Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks. Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. https://wapo.st/4yt6dHY

If you're wondering why Flock leaves cameras up after a contract end, part of their business model and marketing strategy is being able to advertise that their customers can access data from cameras all over the country. You may have canceled your contract, but the cameras still fuel the system.

Once again, for the politicians, business leaders, and journalists still actively posting on X/Twitter: why? You're using a platform that's owned by someone who's trying to break up your country. The juice isn't worth the squeeze.

There it is. Elon Musk now advocating for Alberta separation. That should perhaps be one of the biggest reasons to vote to stay. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli

Seriously just enforce normal liability for AI on the owners and so much of this shit goes away AI companies want to be treated like the hired expert when it comes to pocketing any financial flows, but like a cursory Google Search whenever it comes to liability

I feel like if AI wants to be in the business of offering medical opinions, then AI companies need to be in the "getting sued for medical malpractice" business too

Four days ago, a scientist was surprised by the news that Anthropic discovered new virus genes for making DNA. He says he’s been studying them for years—and feeding his data to Anthropic’s AI as part of his own research. Coincidence? Here’s my story. nyti.ms/3VSWayc

Glad I don't give these guys my money. Unfortunately my company does.

I say this as someone pretty friendly to kink and play spaces: the idea of throwing a consensual non-consent *event* leaves me genuinely agog. I simply do not believe Aella and company are interested in constructing the kind of safeguards and acculturation you'd need to make that remotely safe

In his contribution for the Macdonald Commission, A. Cairns (1985) explained this problem inherent to the "embedded state", and federalism further complicates it. Today we understand it even better based on quantitative + qualitative research. For many: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

Im ok with eu, they need to bring in equalization payments. This would have helped with the ecb during the financial crisis and the pain between north and south Europe. A federation with single currency and no equalization will be problematic.

If people want to use the Mistral subscription they have train on prompts enabled by default. Easy to turn off. Get $300 api credits by using their vibe by cli. Vibe has its own telemetry setting as well.

A great contribution as usual. I'd add: Many have been calling for a "pan-Canadian" conversation to address this question (which also has a domestic dimension) for years. It never resonated, unfortunately. And the "Forward Guidance" approach is not helpful in this regard either, to say the least.

I've got llm's working on it, but is there a context sensitive ppf theory of states that accounts for their security readiness. I'm trying to understand the US perspective. IE trade terms with Canada needs to take into consideration the outlay the US provides. Security-Constrained PPF was one.

A re-ignited sentiment of economic nationalism is helpful but cannot replace a coherent national industrial strategy with a long-term focus, something Canada still doesn't have. Team Canada needs to get back to the drawing board, quickly. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The "Freudian slip" reference is a reminder that the strategic baseline for Canada should be the National Security Strategy (less than one year old) and the MSC 2025 Speech, rather than "the midterms" or "2 more years". The Trump administration is a symptom, not the root cause.
