Shouldn't need to be said but . . . trying and failing at these things is STILL FASCISM!!!!

Michael Hobbes@michaelhobbes.bsky.social

“It’s only fascism if they manipulate elections!” “It’s only fascism if they disappear people off the street!” “It’s only fascism if they take over the media!” “It’s only fascism if they jail their political opponents!” Is there even anything left?

Americans, please don’t worry about your child coming home from school a different sex. Worry about your child not coming home from school because they were shot to death.

Tonight I get to run a #DnD Session 0 for a bunch of middle schoolers at a local community center. Intros, expectations, choosing the adventure, and making characters. If there's time, we'll get started playing. Very excited and just a tad nervous!

Kind of amazing.

Zelensky: "When our strikes reached Yandex’s data centers, it suddenly became a little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. A lot of people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations... It’s pretty clear where those bots were coming from."

For Portland parents following the extraordinary plan to close 14 schools, the district doesn't seem to have done some very basic homework. A lot of this is being done in the name of cost savings, but the district hasn't released any projections on that front.

logically then, the next democratic administration can do whatever they want to these freaks as well, right? Is that how it works?

We are now under contract to publish a physical book on this same subject, but I wanted to remind people that you can read 20+ chapters and listen to our podcast episodes for freeeeeeeee right now. Just google strongwilled project and find our website and our podcast :)

D.L. Mayfield (they/them)@dlmayfield.bsky.social

hello Bluesky! For the past few years my partner and I have published a free book-length project aimed at helping people understand (and heal from) the modern American religious authoritarian parenting movement. We called it STRONGWILLED, which is a nod to a book by James Dobson published in 1977.

I'm very tired of so much of the world going to shit because of people who couldn't cut it in show biz.

Never forget that David Ellison's Skydance Media was originally created so he could be an actor. Skydance's first film was 'Flyboys' starring James Franco and... David Ellison. David and his daddy invested $60m to make Flyboys. It grossed $17m Here's a bit of David's acting:

DUUUUUUUUDE. Get'em Anand. And as the thread says later on, cities should understand this and invest in housing/infrastructure so the people who need it can find a safe place to exist.

I can't stop thinking how wrong the tech bros have understood creativity and creators. Or even just having hobbies. #erliart

In the last 24 hours, I've seen two #birds in my backyard that I've never seen there before. I've seen them other places, but not in my backyard. Yellow-Rumped Warbler and a Red-Breasted Sapsucker. Very fun!

This El-Sayed dude seems alright.

Charlie Warzel@cwarzel.bsky.social

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...

As a person who straddles the Gen X/millennial line, “this is your brain on drugs” is the winner.

ElieNYC@elienyc.bsky.social

Hive mind, settle a Gen X debate for me. What's more famous: "I learned it by watching you" OR "This is your brain on drugs" And if you need more context then you aren't allowed to answer.

I'm about to tell my 13yo that he can't get a certain video game for the Nintendo because it's too violent and, wow, I feel like such a square.

One thing that encourages me is that despite individual Democrats capitulating on trans rights, I think if the polling holds, we will elect the most pro-trans congress and senate in US history.

I will likely be flying from the PNW to Edinburgh next spring so I'm paying CLOSE attention to this story. Also, as much as it sucks to go through this, it has been a very entertaining read.

sarah jeong@sarahjeong.bsky.social

lol my flight got diverted because of a medical emergency and they landed us in reykjavik in the middle of the night and deplaned us and sent us through passport control and then the crew vanished and then british airways sent us links to book an overnight hotel room but for a hotel at heathrow

I think our mainstream media is drawn to shame. GOP has none so media just moves on. Dems have shame to spare so the coverage is extremely lopsided.

Schooley@schooley.bsky.social

The Natalie Harp story is very instructive about the state of the coverage of Trump. Many legitimate questions raised, none answered, and the press more or less just moved on as she is continues to be weirdly ever present at his side.

Based entirely off only what I’ve seen online, this guy rules.
