OMG just saw an ad for the GOP guy running for Senate in NH and it closes with video of him riding his motorcycle without a helmet. The most wet brained New Hampshire imagery possible. Do you really want a Senator who would prefer a TBI over having to wear a simple helmet?

Do the Germans have a word for when you frantically search around the room for something that you forgot is in your hand? If not, they need to get on that.

I've kept telling people not to sleep on Mississippi. Can you imagine what this barnburner Senate election between Cindy Hyde-Smith and Scott Colom would've looked like had one-sixth of its Black population regained the right to vote overnight? bsky.app/profile/dutc...

All prisoners should have the right to vote while in prison

Arguably the biggest democracy referendum next month: Virginia is one of only three states where the state constitution says people should lose their right to vote FOR THEIR ENTIRE LIFE if they are convicted of any felony. This measure would allow anyone to vote after prison.

In a stance that puts him at odds with other notable NBA stars, Victor Wembanyama says he would never lend his name to FanDuel, Polymarket or any other sports betting site. “Honestly, I think it’s very sad to see some players promote it,” he said. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

Bands that are heavily influenced by The Repalcements are like catnip for me. So how is it that I'm only just listening to Beach Slang today? Who knows, but thanks to my new Music League where somebody shared an extremely Paul Westerberg song from an early EP of theirs, I'm falling in love.

Real boomer shit when your mom, when complaining about an attorney she applied for a job with ages ago, calls him a “typical Jew lawyer.” When I say “come on with the anti semitism” she responds with “my great grandmother was Jewish.” It is a refreshing change from her usual Puerto Rican racism tho

I guess I should count us blessed given the number of people we serve, but one of our clients just died by suicide for the first time in more than a year. Awful.

We serve more than 800 people with severe and persistent mental illness. Given the suicide statistics of folks with the kind of diagnoses they largely have (psychotic disorders, major depression with frequent hospitalizatio, PTSD) I suppose I should feel grateful that this doesn't happen more often.

On my first truly packed MBTA red line train since COVID and boy howdy did the rule of “take off your backpack” die in those few years of sparse trains. In their defense most of the offenders are young and maybe didn’t learn it before 2020.

The Greenfield lesbian bar thing is reminding me of the aphorism that every day the internet is about one person and your goal should to never be that person ever in your life.

In case this isn't clear, this is what it looks like in places where the Gini Coefficient gets super out of whack. That's his vision for America in the 2nd half of the 21st century.

This has been my sad mantra for the last 10 years: If you want to start a business, think about what rich people want others to do for them and do that. It's been a pretty good strategy so far. And as there become more rich people and more people AI'd out of jobs, it will continue to be so.

Never did I think I’d see Liz Phair and her band perform Fuck and Run with three guitars and booming arena rock drums and end it with a 30 second guitar solo. Wild stuff.

If this were tied to an increase in the state income tax to offset the cost, I'd vote for it. As it is, it's just gonna be another unfunded mandate that will take away money from other services, like the ones my team at work provides. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/09/17/m...

bostonglobe.comHealey is calling this ballot measure a ‘winner.’ But her own budget office says it could be costly. - The Boston GlobeGovernor Maura Healey's state budget office said Question 6 could have a “significant impact” on state and local finances.

Listening to the new Sleep record and my god is it so boring that I'm selling my ticket to see them live. Also, Al's lyrics are NOT good enough for them to be so understandable. :(

We're not that dumb for once.

I missed this yesterday, from a Reuters/Ipsos poll; I feel like it takes some doing to get Americans to disapprove this much of an offer of free money. Support for proposed $5000 dividend: Oppose: 63% Support: 17%
