Will also settle for a broad center-left mobilization in the face of naked resistance from the capitalist core

I can’t do anything about Brazil but I hope the LiMu Emu eats Flavio’s liver

RFK Jr is obviously racist and wrong, but also: he doesn't produce science; he will never win the Nobel Prize, the Fields Medal, or American Idol; he'll never produce literature unless you count his felching poems. The racist just wants racial props for things he's too stupid or untalented to do

Hanging out with his friend, noted intellectual Kid Rock: "They don't produce science" *wheezing on stationary bike* "Right. Right. Science." "They don't produce literature" *slipping under the water in the cold tub* "Bawitdaba 🫧🫧🫧"

Periodically wowed by the range of courses we teach And just as often struck by how much important work there is to be done, and how a band of slack-jawed troglodytes in DC go to work every day to try to stop us

@flaminghydra.com is an absolute bargain, full of bangers. A Bangain? A Barnger? A Berghain? It's late.

Hedwig@hedinthecloud.bsky.social

I gotta say, one of the best 3 bucks I spent recently was for Flaming Hydra. Not everything is in my wheelzone, but it's never boring, and every once in a while there's a real banger (with some oblique You Can See Everything and Digger and full Whalefall spoilers, fwiw) flaminghydra.com/issue-675/

Things you cannot consider: Protected characteristics or proxies like race, first-gen status, the need to serve diverse populations Things you can consider: Being really really really into horses, ancient statue pfps, is the potential student stuck in samsara y/n

Accidentally started watching Thomas Friedman lay out his theory of an AI–driven planetary upheaval he calls the "second big bang." Should you take advice from this soothsayer? What if I told you Mr. Geopolitics forgot it was October 7?

Yesterday, USC's football team lost on the road to unranked Wisconsin as is their wont Meanwhile, yesterday USC's Cinema & Media Studies grad conference was un-fucking-stoppable That’s right—that IS Eugenie Brinkema keynoting on Anora and Henri Michaux and rolling up the score

Maaaan they can scrutinize deez nutz

BREAKING: The Trump DOJ just sent letters to local election officials across California — every county in the state — demanding they identify potential noncitizens on their voter rolls and set aside their ballots. Local officials would "risk significant federal scrutiny" if they failed to comply.

In half an hour, I will make the most enjoyable phone call of my year—perhaps my century. Fiber optic has finally come to my street and I will be able to tell Spectrum that, no, there is nothing they can do to keep me as a customer.

Change it to New America's President Has A Penis Credibly Attested to Resemble a Mushroom

Dan Diamond@ddiamond.bsky.social

Trump says that New Mexico should "immediately" change its name to "New America." State leaders have panned Trump's weeks-long focus on the name change. A GOP candidate in a close race for Congress is trying to distance himself from Trump's idea, too.

Yeah, well, I'll give every American 37 shares of SpaceX after I deliver you to the Hague, broheim

Elon Musk has said he will give every child in America a stake in SpaceX, his $2 trillion aerospace and artificial intelligence company, as tech firms face intensifying scrutiny over their impact on society. https://cnn.it/4yWTjTJ

YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING SPOILER: Nathan appears to use Uni-Ball Jetstream Retractable Ballpoint pens. Adjust your conduct accordingly (by purchasing a box of Uni-Ball Jetstream Retractable Ballpoint pens) (the champagne of retractable ballpoint pens)

Looks like You Can See Everything will out earn the opening weekends of Social Reckoning and Digger COMBINED. Give the people the sanpaku eyes they crave

Aggressive anti-corruption is absolutely a winning strategy, whether in the PRC or the USA. But once in power it will be hard to reinstitute the rule of law AND quickly spin up exceptional punishments that prevent these dipshit grifters from sliming their way back into power.

There is afaik no appetite for the necessary constitutional rewrite, and no appetite for new ex-post enforcement that would transcend the constitution. So it will be slow going. I suppose I've reinvented @timothysnyder.bsky.social's government-in-exile project. (My liberalism is like kuato.)

Impeachments, criminal trials, vast legislative initiatives—all while trying to find where these Liberty U goobers left the templates on the DOJ hard drives. All while trying to restock the military and civil service with credible professionals.

And since that isn't going to happen until 2029, we can add likely economic crisis and continuing climate disasters to the agenda. Which means brutal fights about money in the wake of the spendthrift griftopia.

Election funding reform may oddly be the easiest. Asset seizures, social media bans, nationalizations (SpaceX, etc), solidifying administrative independence—these will all be harder, and will be harder still in the midst of the enormous cleanup.
