Two families, both alike in wealth & privilege, strutting their hour upon the stage. A dinner party where undercurrents thicken. A sudden death: is it accident or murder? Who else is in peril from the clash of the oil barons? books2read.com/RockFalls #OilAndGas #Alberta #crimefiction

My mother was fired from her job for being pregnant with me. That’s illegal in Canada now so that‘s something that’s gotten better in my lifetime. Along with same sex marriage, legal cannabis, the Morgentaler decision, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and a whole pile of other things.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

In MAGA, parental estrangement is a big issue — and parents are held out as blameless victims. I suspect that's one reason why Vivek Ramaswamy ran an ad celebrating Amy Acton's vile mother. And why MAGA — including Vance and Trump — are backing him. www.salon.com/2026/10/23/r...

The fetishisation of "debate" as some sort of grand public good that everyone should do is so thoughtless and jarring to me because the more you actually do it the more it becomes apparent that genuinely constructive debate is actually a pretty niche thing.

The separatists are going to lose today’s vote. But if Alberta’s political class doesn’t stop feeding and inflaming their bottomless sense of grievance and victimhood, we’ll all end up losing in the end. #abpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2026/10/19/o...

You don't have to do this, @cbcradiocanada.bsky.social. It's a choice. They want to defund you. They think you're a propaganda arm of an evil government. You will never win them over by showing them grace when they show absolutely none towards you.

At your local rink or in the Stanley Cup Final, you’ve seen Inglasco’s pucks on the ice. They’re the NHL’s exclusive puck supplier, and they’ve been based in Sherbrooke, Québec, for more than 50 years. So remember: behind every puck drop and every goal, is a little bit of Canada.

On this day in 1994, the Clinton administration's heathcare reform plan was declared "dead" by Congress. Over 30 years later, the US is still the only industrialized country without universal healthcare. This should be a national outrage.
