The way it’s passed over how corrupt enforcement is makes me mad. Either enforcement is impartial and you ticket cars parked illegally - every last one of them - or you have no business leading an enforcement agency.

Chair Abreu asking NYPD Traffic about illegal parking around police precincts. What is the agencies position - NYPD says they are conducting daily command visits (LOL) and "trying to meet our guidelines".

I want to throw something out the window - so much corruption was just accepted as intractable today. No discussion of policy. No discussion of accountability. No discussion of action. Just allowing “we are looking into it” as a sufficient and appropriate response.

It’s not ok. And when I say accountability, I need to clarify a big detail - I’m not talking about accountability for the individual parking illegally. I’m talking about accountability for the enforcement officer who should be issuing tickets, but doesn’t.

👏 "What percent of drivers yield to pedestrians in marked and unmarked crosswalks" - @cmjuliewon.bsky.social Absolutely the right way to ask an enforcement question - and as expected "I don't know if we have that data" from DOT who continues to run from enforcement like the plague

Almost every intersection citywide has drivers failing to yield every to pedestrians at every cycle. Drivers even stop in crosswalks all the time and see no consequences for doing so.

[question to DOT] "Why are we lowering speed limits street by street when there are requests for whole neighborhood slow zones" Gee, I don't know - where is the council bill to lower the speed limit city wide? (I'm cynical right now)

Upset about Amazon trucks parked all day unloading? If I had a dollar for every council member that is but can't see that a "taking up parking" concern is just another indication that we need fewer cars in NYC. Micro-delivery is a much better use of the curb than personal car storage.

NYPD Traffic can't even answer a question on if they are ticketing vehicles parked in pedestrian islands or daylight spaces - which are no stopping zones. Absolutely rediculous

When you say "it's a difficult situation" are you saying that as justification for illegal parking? - Chair Abreu NYPD: "No" (except - NYPD is in fact ignoring it and intentionally avoiding issuing summonses or other consequences. "we are looking at it" is BS)

I never could understand this. How could you be DOT commissioner and do absolutely nothing to improve the neighborhood you know best.

quite a missed opportunity that Ydanis was unable to safely link uptown with Harlem. He had 4 years smh!😤🥲

If you strip away unsafe bike lanes - so called Class II (Unprotected) and Class III (Shared Lanes) - you aren 't left with much. You quickly see how full of gaps the network is, and how much it relies on unsafe "shared" street designs that don't provide safety

A "Connectivity Index" measure how many turns a cyclist can make - and still be on the bike network. The more connected, the more trips cyclists can complete while staying safe. ... but there is a big issue

So I reported this car missing a front license plate - easy summons right? Nope - realized why afterwards. Vehicle had a NYPD placard (one that was issued to a *different* vehicle) 311-29450028

If there was a ballot where people should be writing in someone today for assembly, it would be this one.

Without a mirror, this vehicle is illegal to drive in New York State

Now in our 6th year.

Also - you should know NYPD bullied to have any application for a new fair premptively rejected over false claims about overtime for the 5th year in a row. These need no special policing and are scheduled so many months ahead of time that using overtime is just miss-management.

Friday factoids: When NYPD runs a checkpoint, 31.2% of vehicles got summonsed. That's 1 out of every 3! Why then are there so few checkpoints, and barely 5 vehicles stopped at each checkpoint? (May 2026 data: ~860 checkpoints, 4559 vehicle stops)

Forgot I took a video of my ride this morning to share with you all. It was beautiful out.

Drivers literally announce “we are parking illegally “and NYPD traffic does nothing.

I am obligated to re-post when @intro.nyc data drives an article. Funny though how this isn’t about the person with the worst attendance for 3 sessions now. CM Darlene Mealy

We finally have a proposed city law to implement speed limiters (ISA) for drivers caught with 16+ speed tickets. This attempts to exempt all government vehicles, or any business that shares vehicles among staff. intro.nyc/1153-2026

Think about it - if a business has 16 speed violations from one driver (and in just 12 months) - but a second driver also uses the vehicle, a speed limiter should have no negative effects on the second driver. This should not be an exemption.

It's still in our interest to get this adopted as soon as possible, but we need to stop rolling over. If it's a leased vehicle and caught speeding 16 times, yes it should get a speed limiter. No exceptions. Normalize staying within the speed limit on EVERY vehicle and AT ALL TIMES.

NYPD "Precinct Community Council" reform - These quasi official groups have no legal role, no minutes, no meeting requirements, no website, etc. We have official community boards which should fill this space; I strongly support limiting NYPD from administratively running a PCC. intro.nyc/1157-2026

Controversial Take: Advocates should stop fighting for safer streets. Fight for streets with fewer vehicles.

This (overruling dismissal due to lack of jurisdiction) is why I generally still support Tisch “[Isaacs’] position is that he was taking police action, but that nevertheless CCRB lacks jurisdiction over an allegation of excessive force arising from that police action. That is untenable” - Tisch

It’s frustrating that this is plain as day illegal - but also so commonplace that when you dare question it, no one (in government) even listens or cares.

Food cart permits should be revoked and reassigned to individuals who can use them without driving on the sidewalk.
