You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.

Someone staying on X is like a non-German citizen remaining in Berlin after 1939. They may claim they're only there for the world-class museums and restaurants, but no matter how tightly they close their eyes, they're still participating in the surrounding horrors and contributing to what's to come.
I don't think people are mean enough to many of these lazy folks
There's a @tiffanydcross.bsky.social quote I live by: “Does it need to be said? Does it need to be said now? Does it need to be said by me?” Take heart, you answered all the questions with a resounding yes.

I always find this discourse so funny because I don't think people who are this polarized against using Xwitter realize how many people on Bluesky who they probably follow and like are still on it. So many of y'all have this very black & white conception of what staying there does to you
Yeah I do think a harm-reduction framework is a good approach in general. It was what I had in mind with the suggestions in this piece anildash.com/2026/02/23/t...
I can relate. I have SO MANY notes I’ve never posted, nor sent to people who won’t receive the message of them. It’s not that I don’t write. It’s that I don’t share because I have no sense that it will accomplish anything but make things worse with some relationships and be ignored by everyone else.
I thought this piece from last year made your point well: www.aaronrosspowell.com/3m2cpq6rwzk2v

This applies to YouTube as well. There is so much content on there that passes casual observation as being “apolitical” or “centrist”, but which launders extremism with “reasonableness” language. And then there are the countless “self-help”, coaching, and “interviewer” pseudo-intellectuals on there.
And here the @nytimes.com goes and makes your point for you. They equate 'analysis of posts on X' with 'Social Media.' There's no attempt, as far as I can tell, to verify if these are actual people saying these things. Just a vague "lots of people have opinions": www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
