I'm finally getting around to listening to the latest Wild Pink album and I swear to god I heard the line "like Billy Beane before the streak" and I looked it up and yeah

(LRT I appreciate everyone who sent me the job opening at The 19th News! but I am not solely a women's sports reporter nor do I intend to ever be one so I am passing it along to folks who are (I am never giving up MLB/MiLB))

Sports was not in our immediate game plan (heh) when we launched The 19th, but over the years it has become clear how these stories belong in our coverage. So game on! We’re launching a sports desk and looking for a sports reporter. Learn more and apply here: https://bit.ly/4i5Cn7B

"in a city that never sleeps" and then it's about NYC like y'all stop lying to yourselves y'all don't know what it's like to truly be a city that never sleeps y'all actually do sleep

I got asked on a podcast that won't come out until after the World Series what my prediction was and I said Brewers in 7 so we'll see how that ages when the podcast drops

Millar is and always will be a scab. I watch too much of that network, but I have never watched a show featuring him.

Loved this. No one knows what a real market size is as far as MLB is concerned. Always made me angry when the SF Giants would be called "big market" while the Oakland A's were "small market" despite being in the same media market. Oh and follow @jenramose.online for MLB stuff. You won't regret it.

it's The Small Market World Series — but what is a small market actually? I break that down for y'all here ⤵️ leftonbase.beehiiv.com/p/what-small...

alright so since this loser in my replies also called these women "Barbie dolls" I am going to make this very extremely clear: this is actually sexist and misogynistic! if you're supposedly a "feminist," women should be allowed to take on any career they want! please do not be like this loser!

I almost didn't wanna dignify this with a response but we really gotta bring back shaming people who deserve it and I promise y'all: cheerleaders ain't the problem. toxic masculinity and the male gaze are. point your problems at men.

cheerleaders are still laborers. they are still workers, regardless of if you like their occupation or not (and as long as their occupation does not harm others, it does NOT MATTER). at the end of the day, you still have more in common with them than you do billionaire team owners.

The lockout is 40 days away. When it comes to a salary cap, everyone at the World Series — commissioner, players, owner, union leader — is saying, well, exactly what you'd expect. Trevor Megill: "No cap, no floor, it’s not happening." www.nytimes.com/athletic/771...

the main thing about me is that I somehow managed to bring this up on a podcast appearance today

yes, I was born in California and spent the first like ~10 years of my life here before returning for college that doesn't mean I enjoyed it

if anyone needs for reference, this was the last list of members of the labor relations committee I got in April: Jerry Reinsdorf (White Sox) Dick Monfort (chair) (Rockies) John Sherman (Royals) Mark Attanasio (Brewers) Jim Pohlad (Twins) Hal Steinbrenner (Yankees) Ray Davis (Rangers)

I wonder why Attanasio, a member of the MLB labor relations committee, might be saying this

Passanthallich@passanthalbot.bsky.social

@JonHeyman tweeted Brewers owner Mark Attanasio tells us why baseball, while in a “great place,” needs a cap. “It’s been 44 years, and … there’s a sense in the community it might be another 44 years.” YouTube: https://t.co/EhvCFLNyss Apple: https://t.co/SftQwb6Ru2 Spotify: https://t.co/Ur244TPkrQ

hmm: "Steinbrenner added that the aim for the money from Apollo was to provide the Yankees with more “financial stability for years and years to come.”" thinking about how Steinbrenner is on the labor relations committee. I'm sure that's not at all connected
