Once people let go of the idea that masculinity & femininity inherently belong to men & women respectively, we'd recognize how arbitrary all this policing of expression is. A big part of that is understanding how the most traditional forms of masculinity/femininity serve colonialist capitalist goals

I feel like such an insular freak case study in the larger conversation of indonesian comic history. Like no, I didn't grow up on manga, no I didn't blow up on webtoon, yes I did do something radical in the American market but it's intersectionally queer and that's taboo so let's not talk about it.

There are Indonesian GL and BL that found success internationally. But they're often pressured to sandpaper off the Indonesian-ness of the characters to avoid trouble. I didn't want to compromise on that. I'm not doing stealth indonesian shit

The way the nuances of orientalism get glossed over in online discussion is so 🙃🙃 no, "mixing cultures together" isn't inherently racist. Respectful cultural exchanges happen all the time. It's the treatment of cultures as monolithic that's the problem.

There's a lot of unchecked acephobia when discussing how gen ai has been used as a tool for assault. I think it's rooted in people constantly equating horniness as the "most human" trait. It's always conflated with artistic passion and deemed irreproducible by a machine

So when you bring up the misogynistic sexual violation gen ai has produced, people get really uncomfortable about that or ignore it. The end goal of acephobia has *always* been the normalization of rape culture
