@gabrielzucman.bsky.social: So let met get that straight: paying a wealth tax is impossible (“billionaires have no liquidity”, “it would be taxing unrealized gains”, “their wealth is virtual”) but one man paying half a billion to influence elections is possible. Did I understand well?

I just need to keep saying that this is completely insane. A contagious illness that spreads easily but is preventable by a safe and readily available vaccine... should not have a death toll in 2026. I mourn each one of these cases.

It is crazy to me that there is no apparent liability for these companies. The only industry I know well is pharma, and they are regulated a ton - years of research occur before a drug is approved, and then it is still monitored post-approval. AI needs strong regulation - yesterday.

Trump: “I've seen proof of where they have a vaccination thing that looks like the size of a bottle of soda and pour it into a little child's body.” Bottle of soda and vaccine for size comparison purposes…one of these things is NOT like the other…

Not knowing what you don't know is a dangerous thing. Not caring that others know more than you and doubling-down on your ignorance is even worse, especially when you have real power.

This part I can agree with - the need for improved medical record systems. But sharing that information with the government or researchers should be opt-in. Also, how can can we have someone in charge of HHS who doesn't know how terrible our medical information systems are? 😳

Counter-narrative re: AI- I think it is making me smarter, not dumber, as I push back against the confident errors that it creates discussing topics that I know something about. (I'm still polite though, because maybe Skynet)

On the other hand, I'll probably never remember what temperature settings to use on the grill or what to cook chicken things to since I just ask it each time and put no effort into learning the answer.

Eventually I came up with the idea of dragging it off the screen- that worked. I spent an hour waiting for it to return but it did not. I went back to my office and opened the app again- it came back. But now that I'm home trying to show my kids 2 days later, I can't get it to show up again. 4/

Around me are all these more-important-than-me people with high positions in the university. Right before I'm introduced, I look down at my notes and see- this blue duck walking across the screen. 2/

I like birds and this one was acting kind of cute as it waddled around the screen. I tried to tap it to make it go away - no luck. Double-tap - nope. I dragged it to a different area of the screen - it waddled back to where I was writing. It then decided to swim on the screen in front of me 3/
