Lefty news sites used to pay trans writers to write basic explainers about this and states actually listened and started allowing us to change our ID sex. And then lefty news sites stopped hiring trans writers to write basic explainers about this and now we have this.

"Imagine having to choose between not driving and outing yourself as trans every time you enter a club, buy an alcoholic beverage, go to a building where security personnel check ID (an office building, your kid’s school), vote, rent a car, check into a hotel or are stopped for a traffic violation."

"Truth-telling encourages us to look back, down, and around for the folks our texts and culture attempt to trample." Check out my latest lectionary reflection in the Presbyterian Outlook @presoutlook.bsky.social

Fifth Sunday of Easter — May 3, 2026 Jimmy Hoke urges Christians to confront the myth of martyrdom, reckon with anti-Judaism in Scripture and practice truth-telling that leads to repair.

"Luke portrays Jesus as radically forgiving as a way of affirming Jesus’s power in the terms of Roman imperialism. Jesus forgives like an emperor; Luke’s Christianity aligns with the goals of empire." I wrote a Lectionary Reflection (and 🔥🔥 🔥 liturgy!) for @presoutlook.bsky.social on Luke 23:33-43!

Reign of Christ — November 23, 2025 On Reign of Christ Sunday, Luke 23 presses us to confront how empire shapes our theology — and how the church can resist it, writes Jimmy Hoke. #ReignofChristSunday

OMG THIS IS THE BEST CAMPAIGN VIDEO I'VE SEEN. Vote for @dewayneforminneapolis.com! #minneapolis #mayor

Eubie wants to be the First Dog of Minneapolis and has a Five-Point Platform for how he’ll serve his canine neighbors. To make it real, you need to vote for his Daddy DeWayne and RANK HIM #1 on your ballot. #minneapolis #MAYOR #minneapolismayoralrace #DogDads @dewayneforminneapolis.com

I'm also discussing this with Senior Pastor Scott Jones and Assoc Pastor Julia Carlson for adult ed after worship at House of Hope on Sunday!

All the talk about lost businesses is uptown shows how the people talking about it don't live in my ward. They're sad they can't drop in like tourists and go to the same restaurant every visit. They don't care that I can no longer walk to get my diabetes medications because they don't live here.

taylr@taylordahlin.com

because also what businesses have been lost in uptown? all they talk about is restaurants like lagos taco. which sucks, but this is not the same as stevens square losing essential services like a pharmacy, a hardware store, a dollar store, and a thrift store for clothes and home goods in a poor area

Losing Lagos Tacos--and many other great restaurants over the years--sucks but, like, that tends to be the restaurant biz anywhere. You can't tell me that the Ward that includes Eat Street does not have plenty of incredible places to eat, brand new and ones that have been around.

As always, @katelynburns.com is on fire, saying what needs to be said, over and over again, with receipts. "...The right has already proven themselves to be operating in bad faith on these issues. ... Compromise isn't possible here. I'm running out of ways to explain this to all the good liberals."

Katelyn Burns@katelynburns.com

I'm so glad you said this, because about 30 seconds ago, I published a newsletter piece detailing how conservatives have dump-trucked through all of the previously established common sense, nuanced, compromise positions on trans rights to get here: burns-notice.ghost.io/what-would-t...

There are a lot of compelling reasons why I think folks should rank Dr. DeWayne Davis on their ballots in Minneapolis - but that goes doubly for LGBTQ+ folks and those who love us. 🌈

i just ran into dewayne davis at the day of the transgender child in loring park wearing a “protect trans lives” shirt @dewayneforminneapolis.com

Everyone’s words recently: “We need to do things to deescalate political violence.” If, in your actions, you capitulate to threats of violence, all you do is teach right-wing extremists that they should continue to threaten violence—which will eventually become real—because it helps them win.

Replying to @omarfatehmn.com

And to those who would use this tragedy to attack our trans neighbors, shame on you. We must stand united against hate in all its forms and ensure that every Minnesota child, family, and community never again experiences the grief we’re all feeling in the wake of this shooting.

We deserve a city government that works for all of us—where decisions are made based on what’s right for the people of our city, not based on who is most loyal to the mayor. We deserve better.

"When the donors don't get the outcome that they want through the party process, they go to a super party process outside of the norm to try to reverse the decision of the delegates," Payne said. "It's an extremely short-sighted thing to do, not just tactically but philosophically," he added.

I wasn't surprised, I expected they'd do this. I am surprised at how angry and upset I've been since learning the state DFL overturned our city's endorsement. Our voices and votes. Our votes can and will win anyway. Regardless, DFL, there will be hell to pay.

Omar Fateh@omarfatehmn.com

28 party insiders met privately and voted to overturn our endorsement. Let me be clear, we’re still in this fight. And we’re going to win. Donate and sign up for a shift today. www.fatehformayor.com/donate

Check out my piece on the problems with No Kings protestors' use of Jesus in their signs. I'm thrilled it found a home with @presoutlook.bsky.social! "Jesus the singular hero leaves no room for democratic collaboration. The heroic 'radical rebel' Jesus remains a king."

Pretty sure the coolest profs are the ones who just genuinely try to connect with their students (meeting them where they are, as we say)--while being fully self-aware that no 18-22yo is ever going to mistake someone who gets overly excited about 1st-century Greek texts as "cool."

the difference between Dem politicians like Beshear & Walz (who say supportive things about LGBTQ ppl) and the Newsoms, Emanuels & other Dem politicians/pundits throwing trans ppl under the bus isn't "strategy", it's that the latter group is transphobic
