I’m watching that episode of The West Wing that features people who really worked there. These people, whether I agreed with them or not, at least took their job seriously. They talk about The White House in reverential terms. So damn sad when compared with what we have now.

I’m really just so damn tired of trying to navigate this minefield of a world right now.

Color me disappointed. Very watered down Green Day. Took out all reference to the government in Holiday and took out the whole redneck/MAGA agenda in American Idiot. I mean, the MAGA thing admittedly might have been too much? But Holiday was written years ago. So was American Idiot.

Occasionally, I peek at comments on X and on Facebook. It’s horrifying. People applauding the lack of due process. Happy about children being snatched from schools because they are “illegal”. Second graders who came here as infants and have no idea what is going on. We are a lost nation.

Today my train went past a church.The church parking lot was filled with tables of food to be handed out. The line to get in stretched two city blocks. I thought “Oh my God” as my train passed it. I’ve taken that same train every day for seven years and never saw that same sort of line before.

I cannot believe that this is what we have become. Is this who we really want to be as a nation? Callous, indifferent and morally bankrupt.

Two possibilities here: He is an idiot with no idea about what he is doing and called the whole thing off when his friends bitched about it or he did it on purpose as a pump and dump scheme. The mental health crisis in this country was bad before. I imagine it will explode now.

My kids and husband have been volunteering at a cat rescue for eight years now. Every Saturday for eight years. Some higher up yahoo there just named two new stray kittens that need to be adopted 47 and 48. Effectively alienating 50% of their prospective adopters. I kid you not. It’s a cult.

Oh wonderful. Another thing to worry about. Three out of the four of us in this house are diagnosed ADHD.

I’m trying to genuinely have a civil conversation with someone on this app who disagrees with me. But I’m getting in response “You won’t watch this” “You don’t care”. This is why I tend to just block, but I always want to believe civility is still possible.
