I had a great time at the Rugby Literary Festival this weekend. It was great to meet so many good people, sell a few books and reflect on my zigzagging writing journey. Thanks to Lindsay Woodward for her sterling efforts in organising the whole thing. Book details are at jmcobleyauthor.com

I’ll be at the Rugby Literary Festival on 24th & 25th Oct. Catch me at the Many Paths to Publication panel at 14.30 on Saturday and/or the Local Author Spotlight at 11.00. All is taking place at the Rugby Art Gallery and Museum. I’ll have all of these books available at special festival prices!

The advantage of going to a fun comic con, 2 gigs and a book festival in 8 days is that I feel a bit more confident about being creative and also less bothered about craving success. Connecting with authors and reconnecting with comics people was fab. Blog post and Substack article on the way.

I’m exhausted after Marillion on Wednesday, Big Big Train on Friday, and the Milton Keynes Literary festival on Saturday. Two of the best gigs I’ve seen in a very long time, the grottiest Premier Inn I’ve seen, and a great day signing books, seeing people I haven’t seen for years, and now… sleep.

In Leicester to see IQ in a couple of hours. I accidentally fell into the TGJones closing down sale and Waterstones. I had to buy books just to escape. Needed a coffee to steady my nerves, and then a cake fell onto the tray. I am so clumsy!

Into the last stretch, everyone!

So often what are called “culture wars” are one set of people saying “please can we live without perpetual persecution” and another saying “no, f*** you” but the press considering the latter group have “legitimate concerns” and must be perpetually platformed

Please read this whole thread. This is why I’ll never be rich.

THREAD (contains crossness) Getting pretty weary of people telling me I'm doing poverty all wrong, and that I should choose WORSE poverty to make their carefully curated ethics happy. Yeah. Amazon are shits. But I sell books there. Why?

One of French puppeteer Raphaël Gromy’s most recognizable performances features a puppet painting real artworks on canvas, blending puppetry, live performance, and visual art into a unique theatrical experience. 😊 IG: @artistsuniversum @raphael_gromy

You may have seen I broadcast a message to planet Earth from the edge of space. I thought it was equally important to speak to deep space about you and your lovely little planet. But I thought humans might like to see it too, so here it is. #Clacton #VoteBinface

I’m comfortable, because it was years ago in a different place, to be able to say that I was gaslit to the extreme in a previous workplace. It was a case of upward bullying, management squeeze, gaslighting and scapegoating in a school. It’s unfortunately very common in schools.

A two minute piece on gaslighting - here is part one #lgbtq #gaslighting #bbc #radio4 part TWO

The best thing to do, I think, when someone dies who was a hateful person when alive, is to treat their passing with apathy. It is interesting, though, how many celebrities have died in a short space of time.
