Jordan Mechner

Hi, Jordan Mechner here. You might know my video games (Prince of Persia, etc)💾🎮 I've recently written and drawn a graphic novel memoir, "Replay"📕It's my story of 4 decades making games, and my family's story of surviving two world wars. Check out reviews, excerpts, trailer: jordanmechner.com/books

If you recognize the Apple II peripheral in this photo...you're one of the few!🕹️ And if you actually HAVE one, or know someone who does... Please contact me!! 💾 It's a 1980 VersaWriter, the graphic tablet I used to create the rotoscoped Karateka animations. 🙏 Sadly, I got rid of mine long ago.

In today's blog post, I tell the story behind the often-overlooked Prince of Persia 3D (1999) The one in between the original 2D games and Sands of Time.💾 Thanks to the website Players in Kyiv for remembering POP3D on its 27th anniversary!🙏❤️ jordanmechner.com/en/latest-news

Easy, Prince of Persia from @jmechner.bsky.social

After @jmechner.bsky.social ‘s diaries, here is another amazing book that makes me incredibly nostalgic for a time I was too young to fully experience. Thx for sharing your story @johnromero.bsky.social !

@jmechner.bsky.social Thx @gog.com #Bednarski #GOGcom #JordanMechner #OrientExpress #PCgames #retro #Windows9x #recenzja #review

I've been thinking it might be fun to buy a copy of @jmechner.bsky.social's Karateka for the PC-98. I got excited when I saw this one in BEEP in Akihabara... then noticed it was actually sealed (!!!) and even with the favorable exchange rate and no tax, it would have been $750.

Reading @jmechner.bsky.social's The Making of Prince of Persia at the moment and it's so cool to see the constraints of game development back then (probably not for him). Makes me want to make things! Also funny to imagine that world in the same week the extended look for GTA 6 came out 😂

I still have mine too !

Nice find, very rare! I still have the one copy of this they sent me in 1985- it reminded me of a Kodak Super 8 film box, like the kind I used to film the animation reference! www.jordanmechner.com/en/games-mov...

And then I sat down and played the OG #princeofpersia (@jmechner.bsky.social, a great many thanks for creating this!) on the #amiga (running kickstart 2.0, never seen it before). Complete with intro and trainer by Angels. #retrogaming #broderbund #commodore

Ep. 284 After a few attempts I managed to finish the game :D It was actually quite surprising that I really made it :D #webcomic #princeofpersia @jmechner.bsky.social ----- Full res here: tapas.io/episode/3954... and/or here: www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/i-...

i know everyone has been dying for my take on emily wilson's review of nolan's odyssey and so here it is. it should be an embarrassment to whoever edited it. when a writer files copy like that, you should know how controversial it will be and go above and beyond to help them shore up their take.

Only 9 hours left to back our LIBERTY! graphic novel Kickstarter!📕Thanks to the first 1,028 backers, @magneticpress.bsky.social has just added a bonus PDF of my original script, free to all tiers!🙏 Get your copy at www.kickstarter.com/projects/neu... First 2 pages below (script & final):

So, apparently, I got internet before Jordan Mechner 🧓🤯 (but after playing Prince of Persia for a few years already; floppy disks ftw!)

Hi! I believe there is a plan for LIBERTY to be published in Spanish by editor Cascaborra under license from @delcourt-bd.bsky.social, I'm not sure of the release date. Thanks for asking!

There’s a description of Francis Mechner eating a peach after escaping to freedom during the Second World War that captures this experience perfectly; one of many great moments in @jmechner.bsky.social’s “Replay.”

Le moment où quand tu débutes un combat tu appuies malencontreusement sur bas et notre Prince range son épée 😭😭 Why @jmechner.bsky.social ? Whyyyyyy ?

Merci ! 🙏 In fact, Liberté! was published first in French and is now available in a new intégrale edition from @delcourt-bd.bsky.social ! Links here: www.jordanmechner.com/fr/books/lib... My other books, Monte Cristo and Replay, are also out in French : www.jordanmechner.com/fr/books/

Sorry, haters and gatekeepers, but I used AI to finally create the vision I’ve had in my head for 13 years. This is why Hollywood tries to keep us quiet. They’re scared (*seven minute clip of a photorealistic Goku with my face fighting Optimus Prime in Manhattan*)

Finally got it in my hands 🤩 this is going to be a great read 📖☕ the game itself gave me some nice memories in my childhood so it will be fun to read how @jmechner.bsky.social made the game happen 😉

This 2003 @ign.com Q&A about The Sands of Time just popped up... I have zero recollection of answering these, but it's kind of nostalgic to hear myself talking up the game pre-release.🎮 And what we called AI 23 years ago⌛️ www.ign.com/articles/200...
