IDK, I think this is a direct result of seeing Democrats in the US downplaying and sidelining genocide as an issue because it was reflecting badly on them, and then pretending to still be progressive. Like, yes, lots of Democrats are genocide apologists, and in that way closer to Bolsonaro.

its insane how not many people are talking about how republicans with the help of several moderate democrats are building out the largest abusive medical conversion therapy operation in modern american history

Interviewing a govt minister Hazarika shows a graph comparing young people claiming PIP to the size of our armed forces & declares it "tells a story about modern Britain" I can't even make a sarcastic comment about our fearless fourth estate, because Hazarika is a Labour politician

Healthcare is a basic human right. The parasitic class does not have a right to make any profit off of denying people's basic needs. "Somebody has to deny claims", no actually, you cannot justify being part of a system that denies people their basic human rights by being just a cog in the machine.

Bourgeois mfer@ghunkinking.bsky.social

Somebody has to deny claims, though 90% of UHC's revenue goes to medical claims, 7% goes to administrative overhead, and 3% is profit. Could be better, I guess, but high medical care costs really lie with providers and drug costs.

Yes it's a shame that people like Brian Thompson justified injustice such as denying people healthcare claims. Thankfully he was brought to justice in the end, a justice that the legal system would have never provided.

rattatatouille@rattatatouille.bsky.social

With all due apologies to the late, great Sir Terry Pratchett, I believe he said something along the lines of "evil is when you start treating people as things". Once you start justifying injustice, even against the unjust, you're embracing a dark path.

Bro really typed out the words "Arguing with women is pointless" and still somehow thinks he is meaningfully less of a bigot than the Republicans he despises.

Labour party officials have been calling those who disagree with them "fleas" saying they have no right in the party, gloating as they left the party in droves. Sorry, but Starmer's faction has objectively acted way more vile than any leftist. If someone says things back at them, it's self-defence

Note how half of these are serious objections: That people act just as bad under their real names, that doing that would put people at risk of being brought in by an authoritarian government. But Well Done Steak here can only *sigh* He wants to see people punished for expressing opinions.

"Require users to use their real names" Sure, do you also want me to post my family's names, my home address, the name of my employer and my bank account details while you're at it? No way anyone would ever abuse that.

Duncan Weldon@duncanweldon.bsky.social

I remain of the view that regulation of social media is better than a ban for young people. But I also pretty much agree with all these proposals.

Enough is enough. When politicians use hateful language, they create conditions for hatred to grow. This is the Reform party I warned about, and they should be ashamed for inciting racial division in Scotland. I will always stand up for the inclusive country we are. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Good. Let's talk about Marwan Barghouti. Imprisoned for 25 years. An inter-Parliamentary Union report found he was not given a fair trial. Nelson Mandela: “What is happening to Barghouti is exactly the same as what happened to me." Free Marwan. freemarwan.org

You’ve got to have some gall to be the director of an organisation called More in Common while also framing immigration as a problem to be solved

Luke Tryl@luketryl.bsky.social

The glue that can unite both wings is economics, Mamdanism even. But you have to be properly credible enough on immigration both legal and crossings, but of course won’t out bid Reform, but that credibility gets you a hearing then to do the economic/climate piece that unites your coalition.

I'm not American so I can't comment about American men specifically. But yes, I fully endorse the idea that 90% of men shouldn't be involved in politics. More than 90% really.

if we're disqualifying everyone who ever had a nazi phase, that would remove like 90% of american men from the political process. its completely ridiculous. people change.

Polanski is leaning in the right direction in his analysis of the Corbyn years, although some things are still lacking. He only really focuses on the Israel angle, which makes sense since slander by pro-Israel actors is something he's experienced. But the role the GLU played is bigger IMO.

Zack Polanski's comments on Jeremy Corbyn and in particular on antisemitism in his New Statesman interview are causing a big reaction this morning. Here is a thread of what he said and the Labour party official response - although do read the full interview

A lot of controversial decisions, or alleged inaction on behalf of the Labour party during this era, particularly regarding antisemitism, can be traced to the GLU. The fact that Labour's disciplinary structures were overtly hostile to the leadership meant they couldn't make necessary reforms to it.

While saying that Corbyn was sabotaged by the Israel lobby is partially correct, what it ignores is that there was a faction of right-wing Labourites who were ready to sabotage Corbyn anyway. Israel was just the most convenient issue they could find allies to help them sabotage him over.

For the first few years of Corbyn's leadership, the Governance and Legal Unit, the disciplinary organ of the Labour Party, was controlled by a Blairite faction who categorically refused to communicate with Corbyn or work with the leadership, instead plotting to oust him constantly.

Following the release of the Epstein files, I'm assuming by default that anyone who guns this hard for Israel, has a tape out there of them fucking kids. Schumer, the ultimate Israel simp, is probably such a massive pedophile he makes Jimmy Saville look tame by comparison.

I thought for sure this was an old quote. He said this statement this morning.

I mean, the problem is framing then, not the claim. US Cops factually do train in Israel to learn their counter-insurgency tactics. In the same way that governments worldwide buy weapons from companies like Elbit, that were tested on Palestinians.

Like, Israel/Palestine is a convergence point of multiple contradictions (The Military Industrial Complex, Capital, Orientalism, Imperialism) - But this doesn't mean Israel is the one with actual power. Rather Israel just happens to be a convenient tool for repressive forces.

Also note how this account automatically translated 'Israel' to 'Jews' 🤔- Something Neonazis do. The claim seems to me to have far more grounding in Israel being one of if not the worst example of fascist ethnostates around today, than it does with Israel being Jewish.

Like arms dealers, fascist ethnostates, police brutality would exist without Israel. But one of Israel's roles on a global scale, beyond being an intelligence proxy for US interests in the MENA region, is as a testing ground for repressive technologies and tactics.

Imagine living through the 70s, the era of the Black Panthers, the SDS, second-wave feminism and gay rights. And instead of being involved in history being made, you were crawling around in shit and mud, getting shot at by Viet Cong for a bunch of rich white men. And these losers are proud of it.

The US has launched an unprovoked and illegal attack on Venezuela. This is a brazen attempt to secure control over Venezuelan natural resources. It is an act of war that puts the lives of millions of people at risk, and should be condemned by anyone who believes in sovereignty & international law.

Don't worry, I'm sure Trump will give you your wallet back after he's done inspecting it.

Luca@lucazanzi.bsky.social

Errrrrrrr.... could we get some more detail on that? We know it'll take some time to get things back into order, but we *do* have an elected president, Eduardo González so the sooner he's sworn in, the better.

Reminder: Wherever you are in the world, all US Servicemen are your ENEMY, all US Military Bases are an existential threat to you. Deal with them before they deal with you.
