The memories that conversations on here trigger 🥰 PANTYGIRDLES* God, remember them? But, aged 11 😳 And, borrowed from Mum (yes, knickers worn underneath). I suppose they were precursors to Spanx but, still. *also brilliant Terry Pratchett Discworld place name IRC.

‘lo 👋 I seem to think some of you lovely lot are GDPR gurus. Question pls. Go Outdoors used Dad’s name in an email to me, taken from data held by their fulfilment partner SHOP (used for an order/delivery to him from a different retailer years ago). I didn’t actually place a order with GoO. Does

that specific data not ‘belong’ to the other retailer, the one I did order with? Just feels iffy - I’ve complained but they say their DP policy says they can share data with trusted partners (it does, I’ve checked). Thoughts from experts appreciated please x

This. 👌

Whew. I just hit 1,000 paid supporters of my science newsletter. (Kevin Kelly's magic number! 😭) Since I'm a non-scientist (ex-archaeologist, ex-travel writer), it's after half a decade of imposter syndrome & a lot of experimental blundering about! But here's one useful thing I've learned... 1/

We have a field mouse who visits the hedgehog feeding station for handy snax. Lifted the feeding hopper today and look what mousy had constructed underneath it 🥰. 🦔 hasn’t been around for a couple of weeks so I’m guessing mousy is all 🐭💭more for meeeeee. (More in alt text)

Yup no tariffs on original artworks so if you’re interested and living in the USA I’m in need of some work at the moment. Go on treat yourself to a commissioned piece with your own special creatures painted on real gold leaf. Art after all is one of life’s essentials

No tariffs on original art? I don’t think any of us know that. It’s a lot of confusion down here. Beautiful piece! Wishing you many more commissions!

Spotted a sign on the road leaving a village which says “Brotton Wishes You a Safe Journey”. Totally gave off “you’re lucky to have survived” vibes 😬* *I’m sure it’s a perfectly nice. Really.

Something for a rainy afternoon 😊

A shame that apparently even a valid museum ticket doesn't guarantee you can see the #BayeuxTapestry, but here's a breathtaking high-resolution resource that lets you get thread-counting close to it from the comfort of your own couch: www.bayeuxmuseum.com/en/the-bayeu...

I’m not one to complain but why are the kitchen knives in self catering places never sharp? And suddenly reminded of Dad, who always carried a razor sharp penknife in his pocket. He was a practical man but was that also a generational thing? Think it’d be frowned on these days…

Lovely

Paddling (canoeing) across Windermere today, into the teeth of a pretty stiff Force 3 wind - lumpy, and just this side of whitecaps - I came across a swimming squirrel, looking very stressed. Not a planned swim, I'm guessing. It was 300m to either shore, so I'm not sure s/he was going to be okay.

Fox sits in gold and brambles as the crisp air draws near. He breathes out, accepting the shift in the year. Cold is returning, inviting him to retreat, the trees speak of change and hope of release. No need to hold tightly, just trust and know. #AutumnEquinox teaches the spirit to let go. #Autumn🍂

Bit distracted by the wooden box and pouches used in the closing scenes of Reacher finale bearing a strong resemblance to a Traitors’ “choose to end game or vote again” sequence.
