1/5 As a QA engineer, I find social media feeds an interesting usability topic. A useful feed isn't only about what it shows, but also about how much choice users have over how content is selected and discovered.

5/5 From a testing perspective, I'd be curious about relevance, predictable fallback behaviour and the balance between personal interests and exploring something new. Separate, user-selectable feeds seem a useful foundation for thinking about those questions.

4/5 Imagine my interests include astronomy and flowers. Discovery could start with those subjects and, when relevant posts are scarce, explore nearby topics: astrophotography, botany, ecology or nature photography.

3/5 A chronological Following feed is a helpful baseline: it gives the user a clear expectation of what appears and when. For discovery, I find interest-based recommendations interesting as an optional layer, rather than the only way to browse.

2/5 One thing I appreciate about W is the separation between Following, W Users, W Media and Discover. Different feeds support different intentions: catching up with people I follow isn't quite the same task as exploring new content.

Brexit's consequences are finally being openly confronted at the highest level of British politics. Sadiq Khan wants the UK back in the EU. PM Andy Burnham is reopening the debate. A welcome step towards Britain's European future.

Anyone else hyped for WoW: Forever launching on November 4? ⚔️ Critlord is sharpening his blades, polishing his armour, and preparing for another lifetime of repair bills.

For those with an interest in history, I highly recommend Fall of Civilizations, a fascinating YouTube channel by Paul Cooper exploring the rise and fall of great civilizations. Beautiful storytelling, excellent documentaries, and lessons still relevant today. www.youtube.com/@FallofCivil...

The #UN must uphold international law, not the law of the strongest. As we affirmed at our Congress in Athens, democracies must stand together to defend multilateralism, democratic institutions and the rules-based international order. We need a Global Alliance of Democracies. Now.

Brexit offers a useful lesson. Theresa May tried bilateral diplomacy with EU capitals, seeking concessions beyond Brussels. The EU27 stood together and refused separate negotiations. It's called the European Union for a reason. Beijing should remember that.

Brazil's election leaves me conflicted. Trump ally Flávio Bolsonaro lost, but Lula's close ties with Beijing and his troubling stance on Russia's invasion of Ukraine remain serious concerns.

Some measure quality of life by the appliances they own. Others measure it by healthcare, education, workers’ rights and social protections. Europe isn't perfect, but I'll take a society that prioritises people over convenience any day. 🇪🇺

A huge shout-out to Dr. Mariano Barbacid and his team, and to scientists everywhere who dedicate their lives to saving others. Science deserves funding, recognition and respect—not mockery. Our future is built by people like them. 🧬🇪🇺

Serbia's student-led movement has turned nearly two years of protests into an electoral breakthrough. Vučić has conceded defeat. Final results are pending. Civic engagement can change a country's political future.

Sunday mess :)) ... playing with a Raspberry Pi5, a camera and a pan tilt. Hopefully i'll be able to sort them out and then build a bit of software to get something usefull out of this.

Europe's future must be built on actions, not slogans. €115m adopted for defence innovation. Progress on EU Inc to help startups scale across borders. These are concrete steps, but delivery remains the real test. Europeans must shape Europe's future. 🇪🇺

Europe must stop funding innovation only to watch its most promising startups scale elsewhere. We need European venture capital, simpler rules, faster public procurement and long-term investment in strategic technologies.

Robert Fico calls his foreign policy “sovereign”. But sovereignty is also about the choices you make when a neighbour is invaded. As our Slovak brothers and sisters vote today, one question deserves attention: is their prime minister looking towards Europe's future, or Moscow's past?

Hi @anna.wsocial.eu W's eTranslation works, but translating a post requires the ••• menu and opens a new tab. Could W offer opt-in automatic translations directly in the feed, using each user's Primary language, with "Show original"? A useful upgrade for a pan-European network. 🇪🇺

The Bush dynasty helped turn Texas Republican. Now Neil Bush has voted Democrat, while George W. Bush's daughter has donated to a PAC backing James Talarico. When even members of a Republican dynasty reject Trump's candidate, MAGA's grip on the GOP is showing cracks. www.cbsnews.com/news/texas-s...

cbsnews.comGeorge W. Bush's brother Neil Bush says he voted for James Talarico in Texas Senate race"My vote was motivated by two things: deep concern about Ken Paxton's record and genuine admiration for the character and principles I see in James Talarico," Neil Bush posted on Facebook.

Putin wants the “architecture of European security” discussed in negotiations with the US and Ukraine. Europe must be very careful. We cannot allow Washington and Moscow to negotiate the future of European nations over their heads. No new Yalta. No spheres of influence.

And the symbolism is extraordinary. While discussing peace, Putin praises a new Russian film called “Birth of an Empire” and proposes free screenings for students and pensioners. The Kremlin talks about peace while glorifying empire. Europe should pay attention.

Putin still calls occupied Ukrainian territory “historically Russian” and invokes dubious referendums and unspecified genetic studies to deny Ukrainian sovereignty. This is not a peace proposal. It is imperial ideology disguised as diplomacy.
