In case you missed it, my latest reporting got into a bunch of emails Hampden County Sheriff's Office sent me in response to a public records request. I'm grateful to @theshoestring.bsky.social for sticking with this after Cocchi's office asked that the name of their police captain not be printed.

Emails @jongerhardson.bsky.social obtained show that for more than two years, Sheriff Nick Cocchi’s office routinely sent ICE agents the personal information of people held in its custody. It has discontinued the practice after the PROTECT Act took effect, but it's continuing a partnership with HSI:

I’m living next to a military installation most tenants are contractors, members and veterans. We chit chat when they smoke and I walk my dogs. The genetically engineered dogs in combat gear spread same day with disgust since they already have machine dogs.

Did you vote early? Damn, I feel sorry for you because @theshoestring.bsky.social now has the same article I wrote for @binjdotnews.bsky.social earlier this week up on their site too. theshoestring.org/2026/10/22/t...

theshoestring.orgThere is no easy answer to Massachusetts Ballot Question 3The private equity-backed initiative would scrap party primaries in state elections. But would it solve the problem of apathy and Democratic dominance?

Who are these people using chatbots to decide how to vote I can't get anything election related that isn't a link to the Secretary of the Commonwealth's website.

Chart shows number of third party candidates appearing on November ballots in Massachusetts compared to California and Washington, which both have primary systems similar to that proposed by Q3

I recognize there's more important problems but the two-factor-authenticization of the federal government must be stopped. I just had to let them run facial recognition on me to download patent filings. I am not joking it was literally easier for me to download patent data from Israel.

Hello all! Our newsroom staff is unanimously in favor of unionization, and we’re so pleased to announce the CommonWealth Beacon Guild. We’re hopeful that our management will voluntarily recognize us in the coming days to start a collaborative discussion toward a fair contract! #mapoli

Our governor's staff are soft. Blocked a literal child on Instagram for dragging her ass. Also, this blog made me laugh out loud multiple times

Is this common? I think if someone asked me for the raw transcript of an interview I did and they weren't actively editing or fact checking the story I wrote from it I would tell them to fuck off.

Just an update here: I tried emailing multiple USA Today editors, reporters and PR people numerous times for more clarity about the use of @nbedera.bsky.social's quotes, and received zero replies. They did, however, give this vague statement to @wamc.org: www.wamc.org/news/2026-10...

On that note I am realizing the story doesn't include the names of the two Boston ERO officers who were the recipients of the afformentied data. My bad! Those people are Brian Sullivan and Nathan Campbell. xoxo

I'm beginning a long, slow journey through the surveillance footage that the MA state police were kind enough (*) to send me. The first file is from May 31, 2020 - in the absolute depths of early-pandemic - people took to the streets to protest George Floyd's murder just six days earlier. 1/?
