Languages is magical. Just boarded a plane, I knew that I was in an exit row so as the gate agent scanned my boarding pass I said “and yes I am willing and able” to which they responded “perfect!” So two modal verbs (literally no contentful verb in our interaction!), no topic in sight, and yet…

Blows my mind that in 2026 Parquet is not yet the absolute default for data sharing A few years back there was a lovely talk at @rohanalexander.bsky.social 's Toronto Data Workshop by some students who articulated one of my soapboxes far better than I ever have: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evcn...

Love this blog post by @jonkeane.bsky.social about language and interacting with AI; something I've been thinking about a lot lately, the more time I spend my day talking with human-simulating outputs and less time talking with humans. jonkeane.com/blog/languag... #ai #llms

Bought a replacement battery for some (large) wireless headphones, and in the box is a random PCB and I truly have no idea what it even is. Did it come with the battery? Is it a spare something past-me put in here? Truly normal, human behavior here: "what even is this little PCB??"

One silent revolution happening that I don't hear much about: Cloud-based development environments. A game changer for companies that have this, and can set it up with a few clicks. Allows engineers to change between stacks *with ease* and opens up cross-domain collaboration.

You are up to date.
