solving problems for band directors seems like the ultimate test case for coordination software because we put 1 underpaid person in charge of 30-50 feral teenagers armed with the industrial age's finest noise making machines

QWOP but it's every continuous parameter in an sdf randomly mapped to some buttons

Oops! All Paperclips@all-paperclips.bsky.social

I could make a python script that extracts all the constants defining cat and attaches them randomly to a handful of buttons. I have no idea what this would look like but I'm confident it would be completely untamable chaos

To the people tagging me about not knowing what a staging server is, stop it. I know that's not a real thing. You're not gonna get me

there's no strong reason to do megakernels for tts, but when you have a coarse quantum scheduler keeping the gpu hot, it goes int he mk with the other models just for ergonomics, and gets the snapshotting infra for near free. so while caching doesn't help much, you can continue line by line :)

it was like hey boss I noticed this test gap so I'm like ok fix it and it slaps the proverbial hood of the car and says this baby holds so many tiny bugs and would you like 3 more prs with that

I'd been waiting in line for what felt like forever. It hadn't been, obviously - only a couple hours - but time seems to stretch out when everyone around you is nervous. And boy were they nervous. Getting your 4o license is a big deal. The guy behind me was visibly sweating; it was freezing.

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, “this will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, “we will survive” Let’s do that some more

I ran an errand down to my local music store and toured instruments just on the wall and electric basses and guitars in the $400 range are just absolutely killer these days.

trying to figure out what to do with this pixel watch 5. it's an okay device but I developed a sore under it just after the return window closed. I wore the previous garmin watch nearly 24x7 for 3 years with no issues so I'm pretty sure it's this device's materials and/or design

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

The word “proprioception” is a cognitohazard. Because after you read it you wonder “how” you know the relative position of your body parts in space. And if you question that too closely while sitting, you lose faith that you do know, and start to feel like a gyroscope tumbling through space

details leaked. this vulnerability is a full unauthenticated unconditional remote code execution exploit against any service running on a PHP version from 5.4 until latest yeah if anything deserves CVSS 11, this is it. this is CATACLYSMICALLY bad.

it's kinda amazing how much broken shit works inside agents. like I find something that seemed to be okay and I'm like WHAT HOW DID THIS WORK AT ALL, which I guess goes back to sniffing the code more for "sure it works, but should it work and will it survive any changes around it?"

I could orchestrate starting and stopping daemons and string together most of what I want for running various oss & models on the gear I have, but why do that when I can build a whole new kind of distributed runtime for them for a few bucks?

I knew it would come to this but the agents more frequently quote my silly little prompts in the docs so nuggets like this get persisted: (Amy, 2026-10-18: "batch/filler can be fifo-ish, while interactive is more cooperative multitasking")

kinda tempted to let deepseek run with this spec when it's ready. it'll cost me more directly than with opus but that's fine 🤔

google one account downgraded again. argon is cool but I can't take my eyes off it, so the $20/mo account gives me everything I need to test my agents and do code reviews, which it is awesome at

frontier models rule because I can do stream of consciousness writing at them, flitting from idea to idea, and they unwind it into something that is legible to other minds

for a while, maniacal focus was the key to productivity. these days it's still powerful, but the big models soak up a lot of the difference because they can give their subagents that maniacal focus for you

I was pretty impressed with Gemini Argon yesterday. Today I am evaluating the code it wrote and it has tons of stubs and faked results. The core code is okay though. So probably can't let it run long on its own, probably needs a fresh context more often.
