I remember grown journalists claiming this was the end of the world, and how would they get a bag of cement?! Anyway the world kept turning and Hackney LTNs keep on delivering safer roads.

What I love about Western democracy is you can bung a political party ยฃ 36 million earned from criminal activity & most media will continue to point at asylum seekers & migrant care workers with families as the barbarians at the gate we need to defend ourselves from ๐Ÿ™„.

Westminster Council Conservatives, of 'vertical drinking' fame, earlier this year proudly cancelled a cycle lane on Hamilton Terrace. Where on a Thursday afternoon last June a 13 year old boy was hit and seriously injured by the driver of a car. They have received no negative press for doing so.

New separated cycle lanes popping up on Shaftesbury Ave. All it takes is political will + the removal of some unnecessary parking spaces. London is becoming a cycling city, reflecting a generational shift that recognises driving in urban areas as slow, inefficient use of time.

If weโ€™re serious about traffic reduction, every opportunity must be taken to embed it in policy. This small scheme shows how it often isnโ€™t happening. Read our blogpost here. www.lowtraffichackney.org/latest-news/...

Cargo bike people, without effort, are addressing each and every "but what if you need to haul" question that carbrains throw at us.

Cycling home with a mitre saw and a smile on my face. Cargobikes make cities work

A great thread... So many politicians still think that issues their constituents raise can be fixed by turning back time, rather than future planning.

Nobody is disputing that Putney has a horrible traffic problem. The issue here is that actually doing something about this chronic congestion requires *measures to curb car use*, which demands much more political bravery than blaming someone else, somewhere else, for not spending ยฃ100s of millions

Good evening Bluesky! Welcome to the live thread of the Hackney 2026 Mayoral Active Travel hustings. A full house here at the Pembury Community centre. We are joined by the ๐ŸŸฅ๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŸฆ parties

You can't on the one hand say you oppose racism and on the other allow a man who was 'literally'selling swastika merch a year ago. This isn't about free speech, it's about hate speech.

Sending love and solidarity to our dedicated and inspiring Hatzola colleagues, who work alongside our emergency services in North London. Their hard-working volunteers provide emergency healthcare support to those in need. Atrocious that they have been targeted in this way.

Garmon finishes by saying we as a group want to get Hackney to high levels of cycling access. Making cycling a natural form of transport for everyone regardless of age, gender or ability.

OK, Quick Q&A: What is the plan for cycling along Amhurst road at Mare Street? A: a bus gate, operating 7-7. So no protected lanes. Someone jokes that cyclists disappear at 7pm ๐Ÿคฃ

Some great developments but also a couple of really disappointing schemes on the cards more recently. OK, now on to the political asks that we had worked on. We had 5 asks that we put to the Mayor. There remains a sense that Hackney has lost its way on delivery post pandemic. Whilst schemes are

Coming forward, they remain underwhelming. The delivered LTNs are less ambitious than discussed and the continued lack of camera use on some filters is problematic. The good news is that some of the smaller stuff is being done well. Cycle parking and school streets remain a proud delivery area

Raskin: "The dictators of the world have got nothing to fear from this hearing. Republicans called it to attack our democratic allies in Europe. The star witness is not a human rights leader like Navalny, but a far-right pro-Putin politician who leads the UK Reform Party."

Had yet another person knock on my door saying their stolen phone was located in my house today. 3rd in 2 months. Is find my iPhone not that good or are the phones in the local "second hand" phone shop 50metres away?
