Good point to keep in mind, considering how much of this site thinks this is gonna end Ed Zitron's career Much like how most internet liberals thought the "firebomb a Walmart" tweet was the end of the entire far left (the guy behind that tweet is now a paid shill for Kalshi ICYMI)

wait wait wait wait wait the filing only covers up through Q2 2026? it only covers the token maxxing honeymoon period of "AI can code now writing code yourself is dead spend ALL the tokens nowwww!!" yeah no shit they had ridiculous revenue growth specifically through the end of that period 🙄

There are preorders for the DVD, but i'm inclined to wait until i actually hear people say they received it lol

OH SHIT MAXX PAYNE SAID HE'S RELEASING THE THING THAT SHOULD NOT BE THIS MONTH (For those who don't know, this was a documentary w/ tons of footage of 1995 WWF wrestlers high out of their minds etc. - it's been hyped up since the late 90s and is one of wrestling's lost media holy grails)

The part i always heard about was how it made the Kliq in particular look bad (and Louie Spicolli, but that part's not shocking knowing how his life ended) and supposedly that was why it couldn't be released before That being said, this could just be another false start...

i will also note (since nobody seems to remember this one) that Payne has a history of this sort of thing. When he was in 1993 WCW, he appeared on a radio show (in Utah IIRC) where he openly talked about Sid injecting steroids in the locker room and other stuff along those lines

Random question for anyone else who might know the current fitness industry at all: is it just me or are the more generalized local gyms having a harder time now? The one near me closed down a little while back, and i wonder if more ppl doing 10k steps/day at home may be a factor

If there's an upside to all this AI slop porting of old games to different platforms, it's my hope that the talented humans who used to do this but are now feeling disillusioned will move on to create even more interesting things. I wanna see crazy new stuff that only obsessive people can make.

bump for day crew

Lately i've been workshopping a timeline for the modern history of pro wrestling content creation. My rough sketch atm is as follows: - First-Wave Podcast Boom - First-Wave Youtubers (think this was slightly after the above) - Second-Wave Podcast Boom - Second-Wave Youtubers - Third-Wave Youtubers

Third-Wave Youtubers: The key distinction i see here is that this was when the ex-wrestlers really started hitting w/ the algorithm. Dutch Mantell & Stevie Richards would probably be the pioneers, then Maven really opened things up for guys like Saturn & Mark Jindrak to grow here

First-Wave Podcast Boom = Colt Cabana, Steve Austin, Jim Cornette & Chris Jericho. Edge & Christian's pod doesn't fit as neatly into any of these categories, but prob goes here as well First-Wave Youtubers = Botchamania, OSW Review & i guess the WhatCulture type of stuff?

Second-Wave Podcast Boom = the Conrad Thompson empire, specifically beginning with Prichard & Bischoff since those were the shows that really blew up. This period also gave us more hardcore-fan pods like Between the Sheets & 6:05 Second-Wave Youtubers = Wrestling with Wregret + Wrestling Bios, etc

jesus we're STILL doing Geller defense out here? people act like we're saying he should never have a job anywhere again, when what we're actually saying is that people have the right to deplatform him over hiding his history and companies have the right to drop him over this

i'm also of the opinion that you will not defeat fascism with video essays, and my impression of the people standing by Geller in this is that they're exactly the type who think content creators are on the front line of this ideological war

for me, it just sucks to see all this right at the same time as the Cornell 7 story. goes to show how many people talk a good game about taking SA seriously until one of their favs gets implicated. same as it ever was...

a key part of my stance on this: a public platform is not a human right i think because so many people invested in this discourse are constantly on social media, they treat these sites like one's home and think making someone persona non grata there is functionally rendering them homeless

Usually this sort of thing happens bc a bunch of online media folks are buddies with the guy - i saw the exact same thing happen with literal neo-nazi "hacker" Weev way back when. It's a pretty obvious tell when people who never talk about restorative justice otherwise bring it up here

gun@shininghubee.bsky.social

one of the most disgusting aspects of the jacob geller aftermath is seeing across the social spectrum between twitter and bluesky being defense to some level about the guy and breaking the "rehabilitative justice" glass for a guy who admitted to SA and making a borderline insidious apology

Serious competitive bodybuilding is one of the few other fields besides modeling where you're rewarded for having an eating disorder and a drug addiction, and like modeling it's created completely unrealistic ideas of what "health" looks like that we carry over to everyday life

Not only guys do this, i've also ranted before about women saying they like "dad bods" when they don't mean actual dad bods, they mean Chris Hemsworth when he's not dieted down to play Thor But i've found the hyperfixation on weight/bodyfat% to be much more common with men

Really i'd argue this all stemmed from the film Pumping Iron and Arnold's resulting Hollywood career - if you look at action-movie heroes from earlier in the 70s, they were built like ordinary guys. When Arnold & Stallone blew up, ppl wanted to know how to look like them and that's where it started

So that's where the "fitness industry" as we know it began, and it was rooted in bodybuilding in a way that persists to this day. i'd argue this has completely fucked us up since bodybuilding is counterproductive to any other type of athletics and is less healthy long-term than being "overweight"

You hear all the time about those TikToks with women saying they won't date anybody under 6ft or w/e, but guys often have this ridiculous perception of what even a physically fit woman should look like. This is a side effect of bodybuilding culture dominating the "fitness" industry

So many dudes will write off a woman as fat and out of shape if she has any visible cellulite at all, for instance, when you can point to countless successful weightlifters and other Olympic athletes who defy that. If that's your standard, your odds are lower than those of the "6ft+ only" women

Most ppl out there IRL don't find it interesting to talk about video games in depth. Even playing games at high competitive level doesn't fare that much better, which was a tough pill for me to swallow at one point in my life! The charity aspect of GDQ is what's gotten the best response in my exp

Obviously you can find groups of people of all genders who WOULD love to talk about video games for hours in person...but the women there aren't hot enough for the guys who complain about being alone in the comments. We don't talk enough about how unrealistic our own standards can be!

Thread w/ new public revelations - FYI, Bix is referring to certain WWE Twitter grifters assuming PAC's death was from steroids and acting like this is AEW's George Zahorian moment (Maybe it *was* from steroid use, but PAC also had a known history of blood clots - we don't know yet, is the point)

David BASTARDspan@davidbix.com

#Thread 🧵: Now that there's no more risk of it causing any harm to PAC and WWE is trying to exploit his death solely for the purposes of wrestling war bullshit, everyone needs to know the extent to which WWE ratfucked PAC in 2018-2019 to try to destroy his livelihood by fucking with his work visa.

Played Majuular's gigantic video on Ultima Online today and boy was that ever a case study on libertarian ideology hurting user experiences and the bottom line (The designers opposed any new rules to prevent PK'ing/griefing/etc. even after that was proven to reduce subscriber numbers)

Not sure how it is now, but back in the day the WWF used to be rly good at using their old monsters to put over their new monsters. You can see some of this in the 80s w/ One Man Gang & King Kong Bundy jobbing to Bam Bam Bigelow when the latter was getting established, but the 90s had a lot of it

In fact, you can trace a lineage from nearly the beginning to nearly the end of the 90s: - Andre the Giant put over the Natural Disasters (not in the ring, but he did an injury angle for them) - Both of the Disasters put over Yokozuna - Yokozuna put over Vader - Vader put over Kane & Mark Henry

i think this streak broke with the Big Show, as they didn't really have a good candidate to feed to him. Vader had left for Japan, Mark Henry had become a midcard comedy act, and Kane was still too fresh to be sacrificed like that. Underrated factor in Show's run turning out the way it did imo
