I didn’t grow up dirt poor, but I will say that I regarded Cheesecake Factory as a restaurant where rich people ate. Same with Red Lobster. In general, my town was depressed economically. The “rich” folks drove new Accords. I didn’t see even a BMW in person until my late teens.

Is it bad that it’s on my bucket list to go to a Cheesecake Factory? I’ve never been in my life and I’m curious. Same with the Cracker Barrel. Their ubiquity seems inescapable, and yet, somehow I have.
