People who don’t know I am transgendered treat me with much more respect; I can even complete a whole sentence without being interrupted by a man — Ben Barres He became an outspoken advocate for gender equity and fairness to LGBTQ+ scientists askthequestionmovie.com
I defended my PhD 10 years ago today. That was the least remarkable thing that happened that day. Sharing something I wrote about it last year. Since then "the horrors persist but so do we." And with dignity.

I just voted for this kit as well! This is an amazing design, and it needs 10k votes for that the kit to be produced and sold! Friends, I need one for my lab. I'll buy one for my team if this model gets the votes.
I just made an account and voted for this biology laboratory made of LEGO to "promote biological research and inspire more people into the world of biology". They need 10K votes. Reposting and/or voting below would be helpful. 🤗 beta.ideas.lego.com/product-idea...

I completed #Celtix 372 using 92 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
Finally got my first 8-wall-game on #Celtix! So tell me Celtix folks, was this an easy one? (Yesterday’s demolished me). I completed #Celtix 213 using 8 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
After a week of really high scores, I get today’s in 9. I completed #Celtix 260 using 9 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
Finally another sub-10 day!! I completed #Celtix 338 using 9 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...

Another 8-wall day! Much appreciated after a tough week of life and puzzles. I completed #Celtix 232 using 8 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
Okay, today’s Celtix was really fun. I’m thrilled I got through with a 10. Love to see if anyone can get sub-10! I completed #Celtix 242 using 10 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
A.J. Vetturini's generative design framework generates sets of wireframe DNA origami nanostructures without the need for a predefined mesh. This tool supports multi-objective optimization inputs to represent critical tradeoffs in effective nanostructure design! doi.org/10.1093/nar/... 2/2
Two exciting new papers out over break! Taryn Imamura shows how tuning the surface energy of a templating array improves pocketing yields 100 fold, enabling the assembly of even more complex DNA nanostructure-linked microrobots that are modular, complex and flexible. doi.org/10.1002/admt... 1/2
I'm not sure what makes me more frustrated: (1) the stark state-to-state variation in structural sexism, (2) the association between structural sexism and late life memory loss in women or (3) the terrible line spec choices in Figure 1 with this bombshell data. www.cuimc.columbia.edu/news/sexism-...
Never gotten below 9 walls, but it’s always great to get #Celtix in 9! Hooray! www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...

🎨 In case anyone need… The NIH BioArt Source is an awesome library of *free* professionally drawn illustrations for scientific presentations or figures. Downloadable in HD. Thank you NIH for this invaluable tool 🙏! Check it out 👇 bioart.niaid.nih.gov
The new 2024 game I'm most thankful for is a spatial logic puzzle called Celtix www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt.... Last night in some of my proudest puzzle-solving to date I managed a solution in 17 walls, and then with some tweaking I got that number all the way down to 11. Happy Thanksgiving!

Whoa, that's not DNA! Thanks to Dave Doty for updating scadnano.org/dev/ to allow for modified helicity in the dev fork of scadnano. Now we can design peptide nucleic acid nanostructures in the browser!
Personal best today. Completed #Celtix 12 using just 9 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
18 walls on second try! Good thing, too, I have somewhere to be. #Celtix 7 www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
Yay! I completed #Celtix 6 using 17 walls. www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
Came back for me and managed #Celtix 5 using 16 walls! www.andrewt.net/puzzles/celt...
