So another hobby I have is taking photographs of Japanese videogame arcades. Here are some of my pictures just published in The Arcade 1971-1999 from Bitmap Books. Just came in the post. Pretty chuffed!

Remember, ‘fewer’ is generally used when you’re talking about a smaller number of things that can be counted. Use ‘more’ when you want to indicate a larger number.

Sad news that The Independent is to stop its Cryptic Crossword in November, barring a last minute change of heart. It has forged its own distinct identity and will leave a great hole. Particular credit to Mike for introducing so many new great new setters to the professional ranks.

I’m really trying not to go for cheap heat on here but you can write off any politician that does not support trans rights without equivocating because it’s the morally correct thing to do and additionally because it means they’re not above selling anyone out.

Didn’t think I’d live to see it: Virtually every SCTV episode is now on Netflix. (The one that’s missing is highly unusual, featuring none of the show’s cast at the time.) Some rights-based cuts/substitutions of music, but fewer than I’d have guessed. It’s 95% complete. Incredible.

me giving a speech to a bunch of hot dogs: you guys I’m really sorry. I don’t know why I’m here or why any of us are here. Do you know why I’m saying this to you? Have we all died

Unch readers - Do check out this excellent puzzle from Crenditi. As Juff says, it's a companion piece to the puzzle they have in our latest issue...

Happy to present the first MyCrossword puzzle from “Crenditi”, which is @longyfan.bsky.social and me when we do UK-style puzzles together. This one serves as a companion piece for the puzzle we have in Unch #4, which is arriving now-ish. @unchcrosswords.com www.mycrossword.co.uk/cryptic/3787

Some clues! One propping up the bar, very much like a monkey chugging first of daiquiris, … (4, 4) … finishing all the bananas (6) Low tier spade clearing five and ace? (8) Absorbent cloth has nipple ring almost healed (3,5)

Tonight's cryptic clue of the day from @juffowup.bsky.social allows me to share Mixfont's new "Decoy Font," so come for the hilarious wordplay and stay for the hopefully AI-proof font.

Zounds; have I really been doing this for 56 straight days? Maybe there's hope I'll actually get through a whole year! At any rate, this poetic cryptic clue from Anthony Hoover speaks for itself (much like Mr. Ed, I imagine), and the joy I got from solving it is a big part of *why* I keep going.

I fell asleep early last night and was busy catching up all day today, so here's a belated (but great) cryptic clue from @juffowup.bsky.social that I think most of us can relate to, even if we've hopefully never been in these exact (wet) shoes.

My only issue with this cryptic clue from Andrew Ries is that I've yet to had my kids bug me for dinner (usually it's the other way around), so I'm not entirely sure this surface is accurate ;)

It’s not often in history when you can behold a billionaire who is also, say, the head of the most powerful country ever known to planet Earth, and think, without hesitation, without qualification, “Man, what a loser.”

DTF St Louis is sublime? Why didn’t it break through more? It’s NOT what I thought it was. Beautifully crafted. Much artier and weirder than I thought it would be. Highly recommend. Need to know about why the police station is unnecessarily wonderful - like a theatre set for a Kafka adaptation. Love

Sent one back to pick up university application Great surface that neatly hides [application], and yeah, I'll agree what makes a clue "hard" especially in Parseword is when you have tons of options. I had the right parse with so many wrong words. Parseword #130 ⏱️ 3m44s ✅ 4 Assists 🗿 Challenge Mode

Sheep covered with dirt from Portland, ME, to Toronto? Painfully tough. Having only ever heard of Portland, OR, I was convinced the ME was wordplay, and even when I narrowed down the definition, geography just ain't my bag. Why's there a ? here? Parseword #129 ⏱️ 2m48s ✅ 1 Assist 🗿 Challenge Mode
