"Thanks for joining the 'Emergency Underwear in public' family. We're proud to call you sibling, fellow pants shitter. Embrace us for we see you as one of Our Many. Join the sacred bond, tight as BLOOD, of people who've ordered underwear at 3am from a vending machine and used a credit card."

i ordered socks

This joke requires two thoughts to occur: 1. There are emergency vending machines in bathrooms you can buy underwear from. 2. It requires an email address to add you to the mailing list once you order. Thank you.

My boss is gonna find out I have a very urgent appointment at 3pm.

Here is the Guardians' ALDS schedule thus far: Game 1: Saturday, 1 p.m. ET, at Progressive Field. Game 2: Monday, 5 p.m. ET, at Progressive Field.

I gotta say, having a MiSTer device right next to a ps1 and a SNES and testing them back and forth on the same CRT TV has informed me that... Yeah, that's good enough for me. Weirdly(?) I still would rather use my SD2SNES cart for the SNES and... I'd probably rather have a card reader for the PS1.

I think it's because I find a MiSTer still a little too fiddly when I sit down to play something. Things like needing to open the menu to ensure saves MAKES SENSE but is annoying. Devices like sd2snes are what I think the least amount of friction look like to get you playing a "video game."

I don't think I have a "flex." I did make it to something like a concert every other week one year. I just try and go to a lot.

What is your biggest concert flex?

We're on Mission Impossible: Umpteenth and Fast and Furious: Tired. We deserve something more new than "not a John Wick but Actually" in 2025. We've earned it.

Like, I really do feel like I've been talking about this a LOT recently. Scroll further down for me accepting when I'm okay with "death of the author" as a lens for critique. Spoiler: apparently it's video game mechanics.

I feel like I'm talking about this all the time recently. The mechanical execution of a video game is what makes it a Video Game. The interactivity of the object and how that interactivity works is, like, the whole thing.

It's me. I'm currently in "mod team". Come hang out with us!

And we have an incredible Discord! Any backer level gets in, and we host game clubs, discussion threads, and more! Right now, the Clair Obscur thread is *very* active. It's a great hub for RPG fans who want a place to chat about their favorite games, new and old, supported by our S-tier mod team.

2025 Mega Thread of Books I finish this year. I primarily read Fantasy Books and have read (on average) a book a week for the last 4 years. First up: Wind and Truth by Brandon Sanderson. 4/5 ⭐ I'm book clubbing this next week and we finally get to talk about where this ended (for now). 📚🪐💙

The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley 3/5 ⭐. I think if I had read this while younger I would have enjoyed it much more. As an adult, I thought it was "mostly harmless" and potentially pretty alright! I enjoyed parts but would have a tough time finding the right person to recommend it to.

The Kingdom of Gods by N. K. Jemisin 4/5 ⭐. Ask me on some days and it's a 5/5. I really enjoyed this closure to the series. Worth getting there to see and I'd recommend each book in the series for different reasons. A truly fun and great read.

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros. 2/5 ⭐ I don't know if I just couldn't forgive this one for being more of the same with zero lessons learned or because it was not as exciting as I found the first one. It took way too long to read.

Fight Like Hell: The Untold History of American Labor by Kim Kelly. 3/5 ⭐ I'm trying to sprinkle in more nonfiction to my reading schedule and it's a real mental shift. This one was pretty alright and well written.

I have found out that a thing I have taken for granted is "Everyone I know has read this." If you aren't in that group, you should find your way into it. Start here.

I know there is a lot going on but if you want to hear me read a scene from my novel SHIGIDI in which a nightmare god wakes up with a divine hangover, check it out. And then get the book, its pretty fun, I've been told. 😐 astrapublishinghouse.com/product/shig...

Not a revelatory idea at all: I just recently uninstalled nearly all of my social media apps from my phone (bluesky is on there because it eventually "ends") and I keep catching myself pulling out my little serotonin machine and just expecting it to do the thing it did before. Even though it can't.

I don't feel as critical of myself for checking those sites on my computer or laptop as my brain processes them differently there, I guess. I've never installed any of them on a tablet for the same reason. Brains are weird mushy objects and they fail? And you have to love them anyway? Huh.

This is the fifth Thursday in January and, by my math, we've had about ten Mondays and only two Fridays. I will not be showing my work on this. You know it to be true. BRING BACK WEEKENDS

i mocked my child in a goofy voice, like "oohh i'm eight and i have to go to school tomorrow" and he replied--instantly, without a second's pause for the years i've spent raising him, feeding and clothing him etc-- "i'm mama and i have a small but not invisible mustache"

Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. 4/5 ⭐ I am thinking this will be the only two Sanderson books I read this year (unless selected for book club). It's neat that these books exists and this one was fun. We only had to explain how everything works twice this time. Way to go Sando!

Finished 2 books this weekend. Feels good. Finally free. Now, to spite-read some things I hate because I get it free from the library. LET'S GOOOOO

i know this time of year is associated with forgiveness so i would like to announce that my public feud with this man will not be ending and in fact will be continuing long into the future.
