Both of these results today go to show just how antifascists can mobilise. Fascists have an entire apparatus to make their victory feel inevitable. It is not. To crush hope. But hope lives on whilst we keep it alive.

From @kamack.bsky.social’s article: a mock epitaph on Lord Strathure (the judge who sentenced John Maclean to five years in Peterhead jail) written by John S. Clarke, “a poet, a journalist, a politician and a lion tamer” who once cured Lenin’s dog

A really lovely piece of writing from Katherine on socialist print culture, the materiality of books and doing public history in the city. Crazy that it only has three ‘likes’ on this tumbleweed website.

'Imagine the book that sat proudly on a shelf for years, only to wind up in the charity shop [...]. The pamphlet carefully preserved in someone’s desk until death and house clearance led it to an antiquarian bookseller.' @kamackinnon on radical print history in Glasgow.

!!! I am a big big fan of @historyworkshop.org.uk so it's a real honour to have them publish this piece on radical history, print culture and walking. With many thanks to brilliant editor @sophie-turbutt.bsky.social and @btwhite.bsky.social for the encouragement 📚

Pals I am going to MADRID this week, any recommendations? I lived there in mid-2000s so know it decently well, but my time then was spent permanently on the randan whereas this will be a more chill visit. Especially on the lookout for tasty scran, radical history & stuff 9-12 yr old kids might enjoy

When St George's Place, Glasgow was renamed it was home to the South African Consulate so all mail then had to be addressed to 'Nelson Mandela Place'. The consulate tried to get a PO box # but Glasgow postal union refused to deliver unless address was Nelson Mandela Place. bsky.app/profile/scot...

A statue of Nelson Mandela has been unveiled in Glasgow city centre, nearly 40 years after the city renamed a street in his honour 🙌 In a fitting tribute to the revolutionary and former President of South Africa, the sculpture now stands on a plinth of South African granite on Nelson Mandela Place

Hey pals! If you use Instagram the IGPlus extension is a great piece of kit which you can use to turn off various grim features, make it just be people you follow's photos that you see etc. Really useful

These are really practical and useful resources, brilliant work! All available as PDFs at the end of the thread ⬇️

Earlier this month, we released three new organising guidebooks in collaboration with partners in Scotland, UK, and India. They give real-world examples of techniques for organising workers and communities where traditional methods often fall short, such as seasonal and platform workers.

Day 2 of the UCU workers' strike at the University of Edinburgh. The 1,800 jobs UCU estimates will be cut is unprecedented in Scottish higher education. It is happening in the wealthiest Scottish university, and the third richest in the UK, currently sitting with over £3billion reserves.

Love the poster: "Does Art Flourish Under Oppression? by Malak Naseem, a Maldivian/Sri Lankan artist based in Scotland whose work explores migration, colonisation and politics. The piece wraps her dissertation on artists and oppression around a map of every country colonised by the British Empire."

I can only second this. If you are in Glasgow, visit Category Is. It's much more than a bookshop. It's a community hub, a place of active resistance, and a big fucking hug.

Appalling that in 2026 our local queer spaces are getting their windows panned in. However I was so glad to be able to contribute to the massive outpouring of support from the community to help the shop fundraise for shutters. I love Category Is and recommend that you visit if you're in Glasgow

Very damp shift for those of us in the Glasgow walking tour business today! Worth it as the tour raised over £500 for beloved local bookshop Category Is. Also fun to get a shot of the photobooth in Trongate 103 with my co-guide and one of the tour attendees

Really enjoyed hearing @tajali1.bsky.social speak about his new book at the Glasgow launch last night, hosted by Glasgow Trades Council. Important discussions about working-class history, antiracism and community organising. Looking forwards to reading the book!

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.
