Rest in peace Walter Koenig. You'll be missed, but you'll never be forgotten. #chekov #startrek #legends

Heartily agreed! #mustread

@the-lettersea.com this one's amazing. It's so bittersweet, yet so uplifting!

Spent my Saturday not writing, not narrating, but coaching a HS volleyball team at an inter scholastic competition. We won, so yay, but I’m wiped. Tomorrow, I’ll get some me time (I hope). #norestforthewicked #sleepwhenyouredead #teacherlife #creativelife #writer #narrator #teacher #tired

Please spread the word! Authors, if you have a book published via Kindle Unlimited & no audiobook version is linked to it, KU (Kindle+) automatically attached an AI narrated audiobook to your ebook. No notification. No consent. No way to opt out!! #kindle+ #authors #audiobooknarrators #warning

If you're on wordpress, as I am (at velveteenrabbi.com), there's a free plugin that blocks AI crawlers. (Called Block AI Crawlers.)

As of yesterday, I am officially an audiobook narrator! I've spent the last 2 yrs taking acting & improv classes, getting coached, & more. Took my time to make sure I could do it right! #audiobooks #audiobooknarrator #cozyromance #audible tinyurl.com/5n74y3sy

Raw audio room tone check this morning. Those numbers look solid to me! Shout out to @thetps.ca for his excellent YouTube videos!! Nathan, you’re a treasure! #homerecordingstudio #audioengineering #Reaper #soundcheck #diyhomestudio #noisefloor #audiobooknarrator

Day 221! I read Springtime Magic by @karchwrites.bsky.social published in @hearthstories.bsky.social. Sometimes it's our differences that make us closest. Read my review here: mickstaniforth.wordpress.com/2026/08/09/s...

My Wordpress-based website was hacked. 😭 After hours w/ tech support, I ended up having to delete the entire site, including databases, & start over from scratch. The hack was via an old plugin that wasn't getting updated. Check your plugins, folks!! #AIsucks #Fable #Mythos #Hacking

Just finished watching "Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die." I liked it. While very different, there was something about it that reminded me of "12 Moneys." #movies

What can I say? I'm a weirdo in the booth. I get heated about grammar, swear a LOT, make odd noises, and generally keep myself quite entertained. Looking for a narrator? Let's chat! #audiobooknarration #bloopers #outtakes #voiceactor #inthebooth

This year’s #Readercon book haul. I’ll be reading ODE TO THE HALF-BROKEN 1st bc Suzanne Palmer very generously gave me a copy (& signed it!) at the end of our panel together. She didn’t have to do that, but that’s the kind of generous & wonderful person she is. #reading #sff #books #greatbooks

ICYMI, PLEASE REPOST AND SHARE WIDELY!!! We need your help once again, you magnificent Space Unicorns! Behold the Uncanny Magazine Year 13: The Space Unicorn Believes in YOU! Kickstarter!!! buff.ly/Gab1zWu

This is my last guaranteed appointment at the Biblioplex, which I adore beyond all reason! I hope to see you there (and I do have more friendship bracelets for all five colleges).

I love The X-Files, but as of S3E18 both Mulder and Scully really need to get better about turning on the lights of a room when they first enter it. They don’t even usually look around for a light switch!

Want to read my genderqueer, coming-of-age, young love, cozy fantasy flash story, "Springtime Magic?" Of course you do! #sff #flashfiction #cozyfantasy #queerromance #younglove #hearthstoriesmagazine

Issue Six is now available as a free ebook (epub/azw3) at: hearthstories.org/issues/6.html Issue 6 features 7 great fantasy/cozy-fantasy stories from some wonderful authors. #fantasy #ebooks #speculativefiction @hannahhzhangg.bsky.social @aliciaadamswriting.bsky.social @karchwrites.bsky.social

Got my finalized schedule for this year's #Readercon happening July 9-12 in Burlington, MA. Feeling a bit gobsmacked by the caliber of the folks I'm going to be sharing table space with during my panels. I suspect I may be doing more listening than speaking, lol. #SFF #author #writingcommunity

When we win, the first bill I’m filing is a comprehensive anti-corruption package: Overturn Citizens United Ban corporate PACs and super PACs Ban members of Congress from trading stocks Once we defeat the most corrupt politician in America, we can defeat this entire corrupt system.

What if you were abducted & detained & you had no idea when or if you'd ever get released & you feared being sent to a country on an entirely different continent? That's what immigrants are fearing! All immigrants, regardless of status are at risk in this administration. #ICELawlessness

So… They still have their missile system. The old leader’s younger, smarter, and more extremist son is now in charge. They still have all their uranium and we agreed to “talk about that part later.” Oh, and we murdered a bunch of school kids. Cool. #trump #incompetent #pointlesswar

Day 1 of moving my recording studio from under the eaves (where it was both noisy and hot) to a corner of my basement is complete. Just 4 more moving blankets left to get off the walls & everything will be moved. Then, reassembly begins. #voiceover #voiceactor #homestudio #audio #diy

And... that's a wrap. Another successful year of teaching high school biology is in the books. Hello summer vacation!!! #teacher #highschoolteacher #biologyteacher #summer #summervacation #teacherlife #lifeisgood

Got my draft schedule for #Readercon and I'm delighted both with the panels they put me on and the folks with whom I'll be sharing table space. Cannot wait! Will I see you this July? readercon.org

A great Rue Morgue interview with my pal Sarah Langan about her new novel TRAD WIFE!

Finished selecting the @readercon.org panels I'm interested in taking part in and ranked them. Volunteered to moderate for all of them, because I'm a teacher. Moderating discussions is what I do. All day. With adolescents. It's my jam. #writer #author #reader #teacher #readercon #fun

Got fed up with the dishwasher leaving a thin film of nastiness on everything, so I took it apart to see what the problem was. 😲😱🤢💀 Found the problem. It’s gone now, but it will haunt my dreams.

Well, that didn’t last very long. Why am I not surprised? This administration is a disaster. apnews.com/article/us-i... #endthiswar #iranwar #straitofhormuz

I got an acceptance email today! A lovely surprise that really brightened up this rainy spring day for me. #writing #amwriting #cozyfantasy #shortstory #shortfiction

ICYMI! Reading for the Hugo Awards? Try the short story "Unfinished Architectures of the Human-Fae War" by Caroline M. Yoachim @carolinemyoachim.bsky.social! It placed 4th in the Uncanny Poll! You can read it here! buff.ly/KkHUnep

There's a pine tree in my neighbor's back yard & every year a pair of ravens nest in it. I love watching them fly back & forth with sticks as they build a new nest each spring. Idk why they don't reused their old nests, but they never do. #corvids #ravens #spring #nestingseason #birdwatching

Another flash piece edited and sent out today. Subbed to a "Bucket List" venue. Fingers Crossed! #amwriting #sff #flashfiction #writerslife

Three stories currently out on submission at five venues. I've got three more stories to clean up and then I'll be adding them to the list. It sure feels good to be back at it again. #SFFH #shortstory #writers #authors #amwriting #amrevising #writerslife

Just finished reading ELISHA BARBER THE DARK APOSTLE (Book 1) by E.C. Ambrose. Oh my gosh, it was so gooooood! I couldn't put it down, and now I'm scrambling to get ahold of book 2. If you haven't read this book yet, you are seriously missing out. Just fantastic. #greatbooks #bookrecs #mustread

There are two people in my family who eat a LOT of yogurt each week and have a taste for the very best (most expensive) stuff. So, I’m trying my hand at making a gallon sized batch of it from scratch. Will post an update on how it goes. #DIY #homemade #skyr #yogurt #icelandicyogurt

My child would like to get a pride flag to put on their bedroom wall. Anyone know where I could purchase one and know that my money will be supporting a worthwhile organization? #lgbtq+ #prideflag

Got to 1400 and my brain peaced out.
