Frustrations of a non-scientist in a scientist world All I wanted was to make a silly little doodle of the typical "story of the universe" graph. I now have 0 doodles and 4 pages of notes * Agressively grabs scientist by the collar * you. need. standardized. naming. conventions. #scicomm #sciart

I get it, you're all focused on different things so you name them differently. But what do you mean recombination epoch is the same thing as era of atoms which is the same as decoupling epoch but at the same time not the same, same era-ish though

Every part of my profesional brain is screaming that I should be doing an illustration for Artemis, it will do way better in rrss, but I have a current obssesion with dark energy, will do worse in rrss but will do great for an existencial crisis. #Scicomm #Sciart

Remember the poster inspired by stained glass? Well, I decided to actually try making a mini version, in real glass. I haven't cut or solder glass in my entire life. Maybe starting with 32 pieces was a bad idea. I forgot I could’ve just painted glass instead. It’s awful. I love it. #sciart #art

My art is going to the moon! Feels a bit weird to be celebrating when the world feels on fire, but as many of you, as people that look up to the moon to find comfort, knowing thah a piece of me will be there, brings me joy today #sciart #moon #art

Honestly what do you mean that I have to present in the meeting after the Phd in astrophysics?! That was a very nice research on neutron stars and gravitational waves Mark, anyway, here you can see my drawing of a tardigrade wearing an astronaut helmet, it will be good for engagement #sciart

May's temperatures (at last). Another warm month - warmer than the last two years as you can see from the orange colours, though chillier nights (more purple) - I'm guessing that's because of the clear skies and lack of rain. #temperatureembroidery #sciart

Centipedes are highly misunderstood creatures, so I’m really happy to hear multiple requests on drawing those beautiful danger noodles (leggy version)! Their “fangs” are actually a pair of modified legs, and those curly antennae are my favorite parts

Yay! Thanks to Laura Tran for interviewing me about my unusual career on The Scientist - I think "Don’t wait for permission. If you love it, keep at it." perfectly summarizes all the 'advice' I have to give 😅 www.the-scientist.com/neurocomics-... #scicomm #sciviz #sciart

the-scientist.comNeurocomics Bring Science to Life Through Visual StorytellingMatteo Farinella sketched out a career in science illustration, making neuroscience research more accessible to the public.

Made this after a trip where I found myself staring at stained glass in old churches for way too long. Not sure it’s finished, but I needed to let it go for now. Open to thoughts, might revisit it later. It’s about the black hole that formed after two binary stars collided #scicomm #sciart

I’m glad so many people have found my “capybara method” for how to write alt text and image descriptions helpful! However, I know conflicting access needs exist and not everyone can write their own #AltText, so here’s an ongoing thread of tools that can help. Inclusion in thread ≠ endorsement

I started doing little absurd infographics every morning just to have a bit of fun, or to just rant. Can we please stop creating apps for everything, I promess my water filter jug doesn't need one. #Scicomm

I love being a human artist and creating something never before seen, out of my mind’s eye. I love making every decision with care. I love trying and failing. I love noticing mistakes and fixing them. I love it all.

1.An unfiltered rant about style, AI and why I don't want to see art in Ghibli style. After spending the last 2 days surrounded by AI generated Ghibli style photos, I am honestly feeling down. I can only speak for myself, but for me style is our personality, our skillset, our passions.

It might not be perfect and you can probably do it better with AI, but its me, its us and I love to be able to see other humans journeys through it, it creates a connection, a sense of wonder, a fascination for another humans mind.

Don't get me wrong, I do believe AI has is place in the world, for satellite observation, medical software, data processing, etc, but art? Not so sure, I'm honestly hoping that in the future, in a world where faster, bigger, flashier seems to be the norm, heart, slowness and care can still thrive.

its the time I spent understanding a topic just to be able to hide little details for only a few people to recognize them. Its my love for geometry and my craving for minimalism. Did you know I have a physical reaction when I try to add too many things to an illustration so I end up deleting them?

Is made of what I like and what I learnt in art school, in life, my references, my trips and the books I read, the inspirations that made me feel something and I adapted as part of my own, the same way my laugh sounds like my mothers, and my manerisms are a mix of friends and family that surround me

Happy #fishfriday, everyone! 🐟 Viperfishes are characterized by their long, needle-like teeth and hinged lower jaws. I had lots of fun drawing this fearsome fish! #sciart #scientificillustration #wildlifeart #nature #marinebiology #deepsea #fish #drawing

I’m so happy that I’ve finally done a firefly&glowworm themed piece! When we talk about bioluminescent insects, we usually first think of those flying & twinkling little fairies. However, many of them are in the form of wingless “worms”, and I found them equally fascinating 💙

If you have the feeling lately of space being just for big companies and billionaires, you should check out Copenhagen Suborbitals! They are a crowdfunded team building rockets to reach space on their own. And I also designed the patch for their next mission🚀 #sciart

What are all the different types of nebula in astronomy? Nebulae, at their core, are just some form of gas that's hanging around in astronomy. But wow, are there ever so many varieties of where it comes from and how it behaves. bigthink.com/starts-with-...
