Today we stand in solidarity with the Kashmiri community as they commemorate Black Day, the anniversary of India's illegal occupation of Kashmir. We call for peace and self-determination for the people of Kashmir and Jammu.

“When institutions become more responsive to the powerful than to the vulnerable, public policies inevitably reflect that imbalance,” he said. “The result is a vicious cycle. Poverty weakens democracy. Weakened democracy allows poverty to persist and even to get worse.”

The critical defining feature of violence in Australian society is that it is, almost entirely, male. Pointing fingers in every direction (media, social media, gaming, gambling, porn, politics, whatever) will achieve nothing if it isn't also accepted that the problem is fundamentally a male one.

ICYMI an Israeli company hijacked online ads to track millions of devices and open the door to zero-click spyware, with our nuclear science agency, critical infrastructure and newsrooms compromised. This is a big deal.

They could save money by just providing security services for women politicians, (& any male PM & Treasurer of course). www.abc.net.au/news/2026-08...?

One week in Australia. Angie Bell calling for PM and Anne Aly to be “stoned in the square”. Hanson’s One Nation ridiculing JacquI Lambie. Helen Haines physically attacked with an SUV. All violent acts of word and deed against women MPs. And that’s one week. It needs to stop.

The Federal President of my union, Michael Slezak, was hauled in by his bosses and threatened with disciplinary action over an editorial he wrote defending access to companies information that would benefit all journalists and the public. This can't be allowed. In solidarity @withmeaa.bsky.social

When olives are one of your last agricultural resources, how incredibly cruel to have them destroyed by “settlers” for no other reason than to make your life there unliveable. While beating up a foreign photo-journalist. Aided and abetted by Israeli soldiers.

Allowing foreign AI companies to mine our power, water and data and giving a freebie on copyright is a new form of colonialism says the Pope’s AI adviser. He may not be infallible but he sure has hit the mark here. We needed defences and guardrails not white flags.

The evidence is clear. It’s time for politicians to start backing it in and to stop states and territories torturing and traumatising children. This bill is a start on that but there is much more to do to prevent the harms of the racist justice system.

It isn’t good enough for the Federal Government to put this in the too hard basket and handball responsibility for protections for children against horrifically invasive strip searches back to the level of government responsible for their assault and traumatisation.

You may have missed it as the media was silent, but late yesterday the Labor-dominated committee looking into Lidia Thorpe’s bill to ban strip searches of children delivered its final report. The answer to overwhelming evidence of harm? Nothing that would stop a single search.

I have served country & community all my life, military, police, & 30 yrs paramedic. Now retired old & broken. But as much as I respect police & others for the job they do often in difficult circumstances, there is not a chance in hell, I would trust anyone who strip searches children.

#Shoebridge on the Lib/Lab controlled AI review: “Captive committees doing pretend inquiries serve no one but a government ducking for cover. The letter to the PM from this committee being edited by the PM’s office is a farce worthy of Utopia,” GOTTA LOVE THIS GUY!

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.
