Again: FEMA was formed because governors told the federal government that states couldn't afford to keep dealing with disasters. They still can't. What this means is that either states will collapse, no one will get aid, or both.

I'm so sad to hear about Walter Koeing...

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

At a conference this morning and the view is lovely

Really disheartened and disappointed by the FEMA Administrator's remarks today at the NEMA conference. Pushing emergency management on to the states with no plan is a bad idea. All disastera start and end locally, but I think we will certainly see one start with the feds in the coming year

I simply cannot understand anyone who does not interpret Cameron Hamilton's tenure as a hostile take-over of FEMA. I don't know if he's going to be successful or not but it is just so clear that is what is happening.

So hey, in a month I'll be at #mcatlanta raising money for The Trevor Project by altering your Goblin Kings ($10 sent for every GN altered, limit $100). Until then, here's another meme. Or as I call them, truth graphics. @magic.wizards.com #GoblinKing #mtg

Anyone who kept their last name after marriage suddenly have their spouses last name show up as their name on their credit report to the Social Security or is it just me? Like, it's seriously been 14 years and now suddenly I have a new name?

I hate the (willfully) naïve perspective on AI re: recompiling games. "OMG my AI just put Mario in Halo without paying ANYTHING to Nintendo or Microsoft! Heh heh take that AAA Gaming Ind-" FUCKER JUST PIRATE! Learn to code your own shit! This is AI propaganda disguised as anti-corporate action.

Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave is a good game. Maybe great. But the characters aren't grabbing me like Three Houses. Except Guzran and Fabio. All Glory to the the Guz and our weird little mole man

I got called paranoid today for being aware of where I type my Healthcare information into... I think i just found a huge tell between a disabled person and an non-disabled person

October 1–2, 1893: On these two days in 1893, a catastrophic hurricane wiped out the coastal village of Cheniere Caminada. A surge up to 18 feet swept across the island, destroying nearly every structure and taking more than half the community’s population. The town was never rebuilt.

Nepal has been hit with multiple large landslides in the last few days, likely triggered by heavy rains. Here is *one* that affected Chame, however, there are lots of others in the region, and so hard to know which is the one that resulted in 56 deaths (see link below).

Not the makeover I was hoping for... waiting on the surgeon now #crps

#Firefighting is inherently dangerous but it’s unconscionable that the #Trump admin is heightening that danger by refusing to adequately staff & provide resources & support to the #USFS. Congress must act to safeguard USFS personnel so they in turn can protect us. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

What do you mean we gave Chris Brown some sort of award? Why are we giving this man some sort of apology tour?!

I'm really sad I haven't seen more people talk about "The Tuxedo Society" by Paul Rudick. It is a queer mystery a la comedic James Bond. Highly recommend for yearning but not romamce heavy #booksky. The Tuxedo Society a book by Paul Rudnick Bookshop.org share.google/OOjyjpI7HeUS...
