"Ambition must be made to counteract ambition. The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place... If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary."

This isn't about anything but the first part. At the polls we should vote for folks that want to restore the executive branch to its co-equal place. Hold the corrupt to account. End the war. And most importantly reinstitute a sense of intelligence and pride in how we govern ourselves.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

Republicans wrecked the free market with tariffs and another stupid war and are now looking for government intervention and bailouts to fix the problem but the Democrats are communists.

Well, I'm sure none of these folks vote. Right?

NBC News@nbcnews.com

The Trump administration is removing hundreds of thousands of enrollees from Affordable Care Act plans, claiming that many were receiving subsidies they didn’t qualify for and that some did not even exist.

Remember: James Madison to Thomas Jefferson: "The constitution supposes, what the History of all Governments demonstrates, that the Executive is the branch of power most interested in war, and most prone to it. It has accordingly with studied care, vested the question of war in the Legislature."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump on his Iran war: "You have a higher gas -- it's a very inexpensive price to pay for what we've done. Remember that. It's a little more. Frankly, even if it was a lot more."

Checks notes: who is in charge of addressing "food-induced illness"???? The patients are running the asylum....

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RFK Jr defends measles: "In 10 years, there have been 3 measles deaths in America. There are now about 1.2 million deaths every year from food-induced illness. The media and certain demagogic politicians are constantly trying to scare us about infectious disease."

Hoodlum 🇺🇸@nothoodlum.bsky.social

You don’t have to sell us on the midterms. “If you elect these guys, you're gonna have months and months of impeachments. They want impeachments to take place, trials to take place, they wanna go after the president and his family, and people within the cabinet." - Fox & Fiends

The folks making the argument to shrink government making the argument that they shouldn't be in charge of anything is a weird recursive loop.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RFK Jr complains that people in hospice aren't dying quick enough and therefore cost too much money

Fun fact: 2026 mid term early voting begins as early as September 4th. Accountability is on the ballot this year.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Byron Donalds: "The reason why so many families have been struggling is because of Democrat policy" (Republicans have had total control of the federal government for nearly two years, and have had total control of Florida for even longer)

Let me translate: If we lose the mid terms, there is going to be massive prosecutions, investigations, and likely the left will hold us accountable. Let's make it seem like the elections are under attack so we can interfere with them. It's the only possible way to win...

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Mary Miller: "I'm afraid that if we don't secure our elections, we'll end up with one party rule"

Here's some fun states rights accountability.

Scott Dworkin@dworkin.bsky.social

Trump thought his federal pardons would completely shield his fake electors in Wisconsin. He was wrong. A state court just pushed ahead with 11 severe felony counts. Read the legal update: 👇 www.dworkinsubstack.com/p/eight-wins...

Steven Miller had both fangs in this idiot. This is a declaration of war against a political party. When the impeachments start rolling through in March if next year DHS has to be gutted.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin: "We want to make sure that every vote actually counts, that we're not having games like you might see in sanctuary cities. Democrats always want to throw out the Constitution. Well great, let's throw out the Constitution."

That's a big no shit ossoff.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Ossoff: "If we want to stop these spectacularly incompetent, loyalist nominees from getting confirmed in the Senate, we're going to have to stop relying on a few Republican senators to suddenly discover their courage and integrity. We're going to have to win the majority."

If releasing your tax returns and the Epstein files would end your presidency, then your presidency must end. It’s that simple.

I have a spin on this. What if the director of the FBI doesn't know how our laws work?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Kash Patel: "You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have a right to break the law." (Pretti was carrying a gun legally.)

All of this is fucking senseless. Minnesota did not have an immigration problem. Trump sent his Nazi thugs here because he's racist against Somali people and to own libs like Tim Walz. Now two Minnesotans are dead and Minneapolis is on the verge of going up in flames. None. Of. This. Was. Necessary.

This ass is picking a fight with, (checks notes) yup says right here, America's oldest ally.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Greg Steube: "You see Macron and the French sending troops to Greenland. I would love to see the US military up against French troops in Greenland, because it would not last very long. It would be a very small skirmish ... we don't care about what Macron and the French want."

WSJ investigation: In the past 6 months ICE agents have fired at vehicles 13 times, leading to: * 8 people shot * 5 of which were U.S. citizens * 2 died * no victims drew a weapon The playbook: Agents box in a vehicle, block attempts to flee, then fire www.wsj.com/us-news/vide...

wsj.comVideos Show How ICE Vehicle Stops Can Escalate to ShootingsA WSJ visual investigation found that the Minneapolis ICE killing is one of 13 incidents where federal immigration agents have used deadly force against civilians in vehicles since July.

We literally live in the dumbest timeline.

The Norwegian Nobel Prize committee has been forced to make a statement, declaring that the prize cannot be transferred. It's hard even to comprehend how stupid this has become

Senator Kelly is correct. Plus a Public Service Announcement: KEY section of Department of Defense's Law of War Manual is 18.3.2.1. The VERY rule on the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders gives as its paradigmatic example of what is "clearly illegal: "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Mark Kelly on the Trump/Hegseth boat strikes: "If orders are illegal, not only do they not have to follow them, they are legally required not to follow them."

O'DONNELL: Why did you pardon Changpeng Zhao? TRUMP: Are you ready? I don't know who he is O'DONNELL: His crypto exchange Binance helped facilitate a $2b purchase of World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. And they you pardoned him. TRUMP: Here's the thing -- I know nothing about it

While we are tearing the Whitehouse down and rolling tanks into our own communities, I just wanted to ask: When do we get Greenland? I haven't forgotten how important that was to these guys. I for one need Greenland to still be a distraction. -KM

I'm old enough to remember last week when this was a thing...

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

PM of Albania having a good laugh with President of Azerbaijan and Macron about Trump repeatedly claiming that he ended the war between their two countries which were not at war with each other.

Didn't even hint at it. He just said it. Donald and Pete seem to want a war with America itself.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "The ones that are run by radical left Democrats -- what they've done to San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles. They're very unsafe places & we're gonna straighten them out one by one. This is gonna be a major part for some people in this room. That's a war too. It's war from within"

Remember folks these guys believe their greatest enemy is the enemy within: “authorizing full force, if necessary to handle domestic terrorists” They are placing sitting armies in our cities and loosening the rules of engagement. Clearly spoiling for a fight amongst us.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "We unleash overwhelming and punishing violence on the enemy. We also don't fight with stupid rules of engagement. We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country. No more politically correct and overbearing rules of engagement."

This one is festering for me: When you take away primary sources of income from rural hospitals, which the administration was warned they were doing, (aka removing Medicare/Medicaid subsidies) the hospitals can't stay open.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Sen. Roger Marshall: "It seems very disingenuous for the Democrats to be blaming President Trump for these rural hospital struggles. The reason rural hospitals are struggling is because of the bad economy."

the first amendment is absolutely what makes our constitution powerful. We have to continue to find ways to disagree. Boldly and like neighbors. The violence isn't reserved for 1 side, it will consume us all.

Outrageous.

Mark Hertling@markhertling.bsky.social

“…I am infuriated that the Air Force plans to grant military funeral honors to Ashli Babbitt. She did not die defending the Constitution. She died trying to overturn it.” My latest in @thebulwark.com www.thebulwark.com/p/honoring-a...

To be clear, that's a pretty big show of force picking up a guy who a: said he would come in, and b: is charged with sandwich related crimes. Honestly, it has the opposite effect they think it has. These guys are terrified of us.

amanda moore 🐢@noturtlesoup17.bsky.social

The White House posted an insane video of the police arresting the sandwich guy in a safe and wealthy neighborhood.

Definition of a military coup: Violent overthrow of a government by its military. We are officially at the point where the US government is overthrowing our state and local governments. This ends only one way my friends.

Justin Baragona@justinbaragona.bsky.social

Kristi Noem: "We are not going away. We are staying here to liberate the city from the socialists and the burdensome leadership that this governor and that this mayor have placed on this country and what they have tried to insert into the city." Sen. Alex Padilla is then forcibly removed!

A hidden 10 point tax on business or consumers, or both. Maga, the party of inflation and higher taxes.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Lutnick: "We do expect a 10 percent baseline tariff to be in place for the foreseeable future ... what happens is the businesses and the countries primarily eat the tariff."

We need the news media to take a good look at who is shorting. Shorting stocks, crypto, all of it. Inevitably, they knew it was going to tank the market. They aren't trying to mitigate the damage. If you are in a position of insider knowledge and power and are short, that's fraud.

Our Ag sec clearly has only worked with complete idiots if these are the smartest she's worked with. Her version of "think tank" probably is her margarita blender.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

TAPPER: You're imposing a 10% on the Heard and MccDonald islands. They have zero human inhabitants. Why are you putting tariffs on islands entirely populated by penguins? ROLLINS: Whatever. Listen, the people leading this are serious, intentional, patriotic, the smartest I've ever worked with.
