I find the op-ed declaring Pelosi an "American political giant" almost as repugnant as Douthat. Yes, she did some hugely important things, broke barriers, & was a fierce tactician--until she wasn't. No getting around fact that fascism rose on her watch, & she was too slow, too cautious in the fight.
Sorry (not really😉) for posting another Bearded Reedling, but had another brilliant day on the Somerset Levels with @cactusfranks.bsky.social

MT is proposing to raise the wolf hunting quota to 500 for the '25–'26 season- up from 334. Hunters could kill up to 30 wolves each. These proposals are unethical, unscientific, and glorify killing for sport. There’s no reason to kill one wolf, let alone 500.

Republicans are tired of dealing with TikTok as Trump tries to keep the app alive.
“I just want finality,” Grassley told us. “I want some certainty and just to know that the Congress isn’t being played when we make a decision [that the app] be sold.”

I’m no street photographer but I came upon these quick portraits from a stroll through Manhattan I’d forgotten, & thought, look at these people. A man w/ an orange ribbon. A cop in front of a green tuxedo. A woman in a bubble. A “big star.”That’s so much of what street photo is—look at these people.
