Was anticipating a nice tax refund. Instead, our return got flagged for “potential identity theft”. I verified the form number of the letter and the phone number to call so I wasn’t phished, and called in to validate the return.

The message was stunning. “Due to extremely high call volume, we cannot accept this call and recommend you call again tomorrow.” So I guess my money is financing the golf course, ballroom, golf wall tchotchkis, and wingnut welfare at DOJ. This wasn’t an accident.

So thesilly little ad-supported word game Iike to playnow carries a bunch of Kalshi ads that encourage people to use chatGPT to make their predictions for them. No way for THAT to be manipulated…🤣😂😆

Critiquing "The Lost Boys": 1. The mom is an idiot. When your impressionable 12 or 13 year old starts babbling that there are vampires around and your 17 year old is out partying every night, you send them to their dad because there's no way to cope with that.

2. Edward Hermann was an idiot. If you're an immortal evil being, you don't pick rudderless runaways to join your vampire cabal. You want people with stability and judgment who are capable of being led.

3. Starr was an idiot. She could have wandered off during the daytime and talked to somebody. 4. Grandpa was an idiot. He knew about the vampires. Why not give a heads up? The only one with sense was the little Eddie Munster vampire.

Jesus fuck, will one of his undoubtedly underpaid security team members just take a baseball bat to his head and eliminate this useless fucker from the gene pool already?

Tracey Ullman’s character actually got worse and completely finished wrecking the mediocre season and series finale of an otherwise enjoyable little show. She’s the death of any production.

I’m 64 and still working. I just took a state job with good insurance which I intend to keep, and the flood of Medicare info and misinformation by people who intend to separate me from my money is giving me major anxiety. I’m a fairly sophisticated guy, and it shouldn’t be this hard.

Just another good reason to hate America, Sweet Baby Jesus and the Troops. It should be simple - auto enrollment in Part A at 65, which becomes secondary if you have workplace coverage still. Instead, I gotta navigate a goofy set of rules unless I want to set up a lifetime penalty.

As a small merchant, it is way too difficult to cancel various necessary net services - most of which require autopay. I'm finding that the links to cancellation are either broken, require phone calls or wind up controlled by reps who insist on some sort of continuation. Its complete horseshit.

Holy shit!

The "Trump Kennedy Center" acted like Trump himself; they outright ignored binding contracts, bullied subcontractors, and seem to have outright stolen millions of dollars that pursuant to a binding contract they were only managing for the benefit of the WNO.

What's happening to CBS News is what the tech oligarchs call "parallel" strategy. Buy an existing institution, gut it, and convert it into a right-wing zombie version of itself. They are doing this to media, government, education, biotech, defense tech, etc. Some call it the "Network State."

"Every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump. It's everyone who's ever doubted Donald, who ever disagreed, who ever challenged him. It is the ultimate revenge to become the most powerful man in the universe." - Omarosa Manigault, September 2016

America didn’t turn ugly because he became President. No. He became President because America was already this ugly. That’s the uncomfortable truth nobody wants to admit.

Here’s a hint to posters - if you use “We the People” in your post, I’m not going to take you seriously. If you’re a legacy journalist whose primary visual is a huge and uninformative banner with your face (Heather Cox Richardson), I’m not bothering to click it. If you use yellow type in your…

History answers that question. Vietnam endured years of devastating U.S. bombing and still refused submission. Air power can destroy cities, but it rarely breaks a population’s will. When surrender never comes, wars drag on, costs multiply, and victory myths collapse.
