I am on sabbatical, pursuing puns that speak deeply to me. In this case “synthesizarr” provoked a vivid image in my mind’s eye

As a connoisseur of online color tools, it’s such a delight to discover a new funky take on the palette generator experience. I love the Teenage Engineering / Dieter Rams aesthetic here colorpalette.pro

Great opportunity to hear about PMTiles later today, I'm looking forward to this conversation.

We use PMTiles in a bunch of applications at @worldresources.bsky.social. It's the format we use to serve Indigenous and community land maps on Global Forest Watch. Forest restoration project sites, urban heat forecasting metrics, and when we're jamming attributes into census blocks for zoom 8+.

As a non-profit, we're always hyper conscious of cost and maintenance burdens, so PMTiles is idea. We can chuck a single tile pyramid archive file on object storage, even put it behind a CDN deployment for cheap and scalable map tiles. I love it.

Every so often, some newfangled technology emerges from the primordial foam of the interwebs and heralds a step-change in quality and convenience for some niche product category. PMTiles makes creating, hosting and serving map tiles a delight for tippecanoodlers and cloud bill payers.

Also inspired by a conversation with @rsimmon.bsky.social at SatCamp year(s?) ago. Might not be ready for prime time yet, but would be grateful for your feedback if you’re in the process of reviewing CLI tools for your upcoming training!

You are up to date.
